Have we become inoculated to Trump's habitual lying?

Your answer is literally "Obama!" ?

YOU brought up the ACA healthcare issue.

My response is "literally Obama" lied about healthcare first, allowing the creation of this crappy ACA process in the first place.

MY position has been that if the government is going to get involved in the "business" of healthcare, then it should be a single-payer process incorporating Medicare and Medicaid, and cutting out all the middlemen (Big Insurance, Big Pharma, AMA).

Otherwise, get out of it and let the "marketplace" compete for business like it used to.

YOU brought up the ACA healthcare issue.

I brought up the 32 million people he tried to strip coverage from after saying he would cover "everybody."

Obama's "well, actually you might have to add pediatric dental to your plan if it's not grandfathered" isn't in the same ballpark as what Trump tried to do.

Regardless, the point was that what you're dismissing as "puffery" is in fact enormously consequential dishonesty about what his garbage legislation does.

What used to create quite an "eyebrow raise" in DC (and the country as a whole) barely gets much reaction anymore. Trump's lies have now become so numerous and frequent that for him and his supporters, "lying" is now the new "truth". For the remaining 75% of us, it has morphed from outlandish and nauseating, to something that simply generates nothing more that the shaking of our heads and the rolling of our eyes.............:(

Yes. And his supporters sad attempts to defend them are getting more and more ridiculous. They point to something that Obama said that wasn't 100% accurate and then pretend that it's now ok for the president of the united states to lie every time he opens is mouth.

Like I said at work the other day to a bunch of trump bots, and didn't get anything but slack jaw silence. Trump has dragged us down to the gutter so far that we literally have seen in his first year a national security advisor fired for lying to the VP and the country, his campaign chairman indicted on all kinds of different tax evasions as well as we now know he worked for free while being paid by foreign governments, and one of his campaign staff has plead guilty to lying to the FBI. All of this happened in his first year and no one seems to care because "fake news" or whatever.

How so? „Evil“ is slandering the man without solid evidence.

And simply not caring about right and wrong is kinda worse.

Trump doesn't give two ****s about anybody but himself and some of his immediate family.

We've become inoculated to a lot more than his lying. He just spent the last few days trying to use the Justice Department to go after his political rivals, an impeachable offense in any other time, and the nation collectively shrugged.

Trump is actually an amateur with the political forked tongue. That was on full display this past week with the DNC and HRC. Not to stray to far afield but the Dem’s are going to be in real trouble with funding come the next elections, there lying, cheating and rigging got put on full display by Brazille.

I hope this is just sarcasm, The last administrations justice department was the most politically corrupt in US history. Lets also keep in mind and keep it real how the Obama administration weaponized the justice department and the IRS. To a lessor extent they also politicized other major departments, the EPA and the Military being examples.

I understand your partisan blindness but I don’t think you as this naive. The Obama Administration was very calculating on how they used their influence with the Justice department, FBI and other agencies. More often than not directing them not to take action against political allies is in itself an action. Lets also note that Holder was charged with contempt of congress.

Lets look at an example of non action, the Uranium one deal. Both past directors of the FBI, Mueller and Comey knew of the bribes and racketeering going on via the Russian interests as did the justice department and Obama himself. What astonishing for me is we now have Mueller investigating Russian ties when he himself is coupable of doing that very thing with non action for political gain for HRC and the DNC.

Attempt #2: Did Obama use the justice department and the FBI to go after this political rivals? That either gets a yes or a no answer. If it's a "yes," then that would typically be followed by a snippet from the relevant article as well as a link to that article.

I stopped listening to Trump way before the Republican primaries began. He would say one thing one day, the complete opposite the next and then deny saying anything at all on the third. So like the ignore button on this site, I put him on ignore. I don't pay attention to his tweets or anything else. Trump just is. I never liked Trump, on the other hand my disdain for Trump was only matched by my disdain for Hillary Clinton. I stopped caring about who won the presidency when it came apparent that it would be Trump vs. Clinton. I took time out to vote, third party, I wanted it registered and made official I voted against both of those two obnoxious idiots. Obnoxious in different ways, but obnoxious nonetheless. Neither one would know the truth if it jumped up and hit them in the head. So I basically just ignore Trump. Right now, I don't give a rat's behind who is president. That is how bad I viewed the choices.

By nominating these two, I think the two major parties got exactly what they deserve. Whatever were they thinking?

The idea that Trump "lies" so much is itself an exaggeration of the MSN.

I've already provided an analysis of the Washington Post's story of Trump's "1318 Lies" here:

Now, I am not going to argue that Trump hasn't "lied" about some things, but then again, many of our current "political heroes" lie, and we all seem to tolerate it in those politicians we support while deploring it in politicians we don't support.

However, anyone with any past knowledge of Mr. Trump would not be surprised at his hyperbolic style of speech.

He is a real estate salesman. Success in sales requires significant use of superlatives, exaggeration, and puffery.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puffery

You see it every time you go to a major fast food chain, food never looks as good on your plate as it does in the pictures.

He's been doing this for 50 years, selling people on his hotels, apartment complexes, and resorts.

It is second nature to him. He doesn't even realize he is doing it.

What you and other's are assuming is that he is lying with intent, when what he is doing is puffing himself up to be more than he is in an effort to sell himself at all times.

He also shoots from the hip, like your garden-variety office breakroom conversation; speaking about things half-known as if generally-accepted truth.

This is easily shown throughout his public history.

I personally wish he would tone it back a bit, but he's over 70 years old and it is pretty much an ingrained personality trait now.

So, take that for what you will...but IMO asserting "lies are becoming truth" simply because you think Trump is a pathological liar is a bit much. :coffeepap:

Love this post.

Well, I don’t do gotcha questions and dishonesty, I also don’t do completely lame debate tactics.

A question for you to consider is this, do you feel that a directed and purposeful non action is an action or manipulation? I don’t really expect an answer, just something for you to ponder on.

Curious, are you in need of more partisan points or credibility with the lunatic left with your posts on this thread?

Curious again, you take Trumps statement for a call to investigate the obvious criminality, collusion and voter rigging as using the justice department as a tool against political foes? That’s hilarious……

You had three opportunities to support an equivalency between Obama and Trump in posts #32, #34, and #38, and you used those opportunities to deflect the topic toward me instead. Your false equivalency is rejected.

He does have work to do. And the fortunate thing about it is that he is too lazy and too incompetent to get it done.

If you think Trump is lazy then you obviously pay no attention at all.

You had three opportunities to not be a complete partisan hack in posts #32, #34 and #38. You chose to not consider facts and reality and chose a game I don’t wish to play. I often wonder, does the lunatic left get simple shapes and could they put them in a puzzle board? They are so challenged with truth and reality I doubt it. I suppose I should be thankful a few can form thoughts and put them forth for comedy.

Trump is not going to change for you, be constantly outraged to your own exhaustion, Trump has work to do.

... and many more lies to tell. In fact, that is his work.

It is a part of it, and it does keep working, those he is going after never seem to wise up.

Some people can abide a pathological liar, even follow and mimic him, while others are averse.

I am in the latter category.

Fairly astute summary of why Trump is utterly unqualified to be president. You should join the good guys and help bring his abomination of an administration to its inevitable early demise.

I'm curious myself seeing that you're from New Hampshire and are mentioning "voter rigging". I wonder if you subscribe to the theory advanced by some in Trump's camp that 5,000 or so non-residents crossed the Mass. line in order to vote in your state and, believe it or not, did.

No,I don’t think there was that type of fraud in NH. That said, there is always some because of our lax registration policies but nothing to get worked up about. Those that play that game are liberal activists from Massachusetts (Massholes). Funny how It’s always the Liberals and Dems isn’t it Jack.
