One of the funniest memes I've seen in awhile. And that's saying something.

I swear, following Trump, Fox, or Breitbart - you'd think that Clinton was in the White House!

I've never seen anything like it ...

They found a strategy that seemed to work when Democrats were in power. Just scream Pelosi, Obama, and Clinton are bad at a loud enough volume, and the sheeple eat it up.

Problem is they are still stuck in opposition party mode, and having a hard time transitioning into an example setter. because their ideology revolves around the idea that "government sucks and we hate it."

Yeah, but why would it work when the GOP control the government and are now responsible for their own successes or failures? That is the question.

And why is this crowd now so in love with government, particularly authoritarian government?

Something's not making sense here.

We've got a glimpse of modern conservatism in the past 10 mos.. a burning effigy of the old adage all bark no bite.

Even Carter said (paraphrasing) he’s never seen anything like what’s happening to Trump.

Trump is doing something Republicans haven’t done... fight back. The Socialist of America Partei (SAPs) and their propagandists aren’t used to it.

If there was any question, the “Media” has also been exposed as dishonest SAP propagandists frequently. That’s wonderful.

As for his tweeting... It helped win him the election, and it will help him drain the swamp, and keep exposing the SAP propagandists.

Nobody’s seen anything like it, as Carter basically said.

My question for you is... if you were hammered as Trump has been, would you just sit there, or fight back?

I like that he’s fighting back. It’s also a reason why he was elected. He’s pro-American... and a fighter.

I had an exchange with a Trump supporting libertarian poster about authoritarianism and how I didn't think someone could claim to be libertarian and support authoritarianism. He disagreed.

Seems like the whole "daddy party" thing run amok. When they are in power, demanding adherence to law is a bad thing.

I have noticed that many right wing christians embrace authoritarianism as well, but that actually makes some sense.

No, I don't see this at all.

I see a narcissistic egomaniac con-artist, who often preys on the desperate and disillusioned, while he feeds them lies they are desperate to hear, as he enriches his own pockets.

If you're middle-class - I have no way of knowing - his upcoming tax plan is going to fleece you while it gives him and his billionaire cohorts your missing cash, while it concurrently leaves your children & grandchildren deeper in debt along with less take-home earnings of their own. And if you're a Trump supporter - again I don't know so I'm speaking euphemistically here - you will gladly ask for the new tax plan and cheer him on as he lies to you about it making your life "great again".

This is just one example.

Oh, and the swamp? He and his cohorts and appointees are the swamp! :doh

Excellent points!

In my humble opinion, if the Dems want success, the need to put "Liberty" back in Liberal!

The need to paint Trump as the authoritarian he is, and to highlight his dictatorial qualities. They need to espouse freedom & liberty, like they used to. And they need to tie the GOP politicians into Trump too, which in their silence and cowardice isn't very hard to do.

They can keep abortion legal, but should express a distaste for it rather than seemingly celebrating it. And they must moderate on guns. The SCOTUS has weighed-in. They at the very least have to respect the liberty of owning a gun, without espousing banning handguns and such. They can moderate I believe, by taking a Bernie Sanders type position on guns.

But yeah, the Dems need to present:

Dems = Liberty
Trump + GOP = Authoritarianism

I believe they can go far with a message like that.

(and they've got to win economic populism back from Trump - particularly in relation to the middle & working-class)

Well, that would be nice.... but it isn't looking very likely any time soon.

Honestly I wish there were a viable third option, in which case I'd declare "a plague on both your houses!" and vote Other.

I vote mostly-Republican, not because I love them, but for damage-control reasons... because the Dems are not the party of liberty anymore. Both sides are closer to (different versions of) fascism than they are to the Classical Liberalism on which the nation was founded.

After the horrific "choice" foisted on us in the most recent election, I'm so sick of politics I can barely stand to read the news. I'm not far from sympathizing with the view that the Fedgov needs to be dissolved and the States returned to independent polities. The States are bad enough in many cases but the Fedgov, having now ludicrous levels of power, is worse... the way everyone panics at the thought of "the other side" having control of it is prime evidence of this; it wasn't supposed to be that way, this is too much like the back-and-forth in Britain when Catholics and Protestants feared a King who was of the other sort.

The whole business just makes me sick. In comparison to what we once were and were supposed to be, Washington is FUBAR and changing the dominant party isn't going to help the situation.

Well, Hannity called her President Clinton last night. He is really going koo koo for cocoapuffs these days.

I totally agree. Democrats need to lean more classically liberal but that would mean dumping the pointless gun control arguments.

I accept the rationality of gun control laws, but realistically you have a better chance of being struck by lightning that killed by a crazed gunman with an AR-15. Yet, this issue is singularly why Republicans have so much influence. So many rural poor Whites would join the liberal side if not for this issue which sparks a cultural war.

I long ago declared "a pox on both", and haven't been a member of either party for many years.

First, there's no such thing as sheeple.
We're all vulnerable to laziness in re religion and politics.

second,
I have had the same thoughts about some of Trump's exclamations.

Here is Trump, ostensibly one of the most powerful men on the planet Earth, and cries out about things are not fair for him and about how people need to do things.
But he's the on in power now.
He's the one with the levers to do things.

It's looks like a well-worn victim mentality from here.

third, I thought the meme was funny

I do believe so.

And the Dems need to drop the freaking cultural wars! Diversity in the Party need not be something to be blindly promoted, but rather if the Party promotes the universal values of freedom & liberty, along with equal opportunity - not "equality" - and mutual respect, the Party will naturally attract a wide and diverse swatch of Americans. Why? Because universal values!

I do believe there's more to bind us together, than separate us. But it sure isn't working well lately, and guys like Trump seem to be making it harder.

In order to make that work, they need (IMHO, of course) stop coming off as being completely anti-gun, and jettison the really rabid SJW stuff. I understand that there are genuine issues that need to be addressed on both of those fronts, but they are not coherent or common sense on them at this time. The GOP isn't sane or common sense, either, so I would think that this should be a reasonably easy exercise.

Contest : first side that really ditches the extremist nuts gets my vote. I might even join a political party for the first time in my life.

They actually had a guy on Fox railing against the "Hillary Clinton Administration". She has no administration.
