The Manafort Indictment: Not Much There, and a Boon for Trump

That's a great theory. Similarly, I think Trump "donating his salary" is chump change to the $ he is currently making and has the potential to make through is office.

Well, it has a nasty side. Very few simply donate time and work in politics without a quid pro quo of some sort. I don't make much out of the charges against Manafort, and I don't see where they involve Trump, but that doesn't mean I think Manafort is a stand up guy in every respect. I don't, but I've also noted that he and Gates plead "not guilty", so their lawyer(s) must think they have something with which to fight the charges. Now, it could be Manafort's check book and how quickly it can be drained by those lawyers, but only time will tell.

Papadopoulos is the connection that ties the Russians to Manafort and Trump, and he's already taken a plea arrangement.

Spend some time thinking about that.

These Trump supporters don't want to think about that. They're in full denial. It's sad, really.

"On or about April 26, 2016, defendant PAPADOPOULOS met the Professor for breakfast at a London hotel. During this meeting, the Professor told defendant PAPADOPOULOS that he had just returned from a trip to Moscow where he had met with high-level Russian government officials. The Professor told defendant PAPADOPOULOS that on that trip he (the Professor) learned that the Russians had obtained "dirt" on then-candidate Clinton. The Professor told defendant PAPADOPOULOS, as defendant PAPADOPOULOS later described to the FBI, that "They [the Russians] have dirt on her"; "the Russians had emails of Clinton"; "they have thousands of emails."

Why George Papadopoulos' guilty plea is a much bigger problem for Trump than the Manafort indictment

This is a modern day Watergate. Instead of breaking into an office we have Russians hacking into emails.

Do not be fooled by the “Conspiracy against the United States” heading.

The Paul Manafort indictment is much ado about nothing . . . except as a vehicle to squeeze Manafort, which is special counsel Robert Mueller’s objective — as we have been arguing for three months (see here, here, and here). Do not be fooled by the “Conspiracy against the United States” heading on Count One (page 23 of the indictment). This case has nothing to do with what Democrats and the media call “the attack on our democracy” (i.e., the Kremlin’s meddling in the 2016 election, supposedly in “collusion” with the Trump campaign). Essentially, Manafort and his associate, Richard W. Gates, are charged with (a) conspiring to conceal from the U.S. government about $75 million they made as unregistered foreign agents for Ukraine, years before the 2016 election (mainly, from 2006 through 2014), and (b) a money-laundering conspiracy.

And so it begins, the White House propaganda squad goes into action.

Are you guys paid or is this volunteer?

What I think about it and what's true may or may not correspond. As I said, I doubt we'll ever get to the bottom line on that. Manafort has a pile of money, so devoting some months with no compensation wouldn't necessarily hurt him. Who is going to stand up and tell everybody what he may have owed in return for favors and/or influence? Well, nobody who would know and with any credibility will do that - unless that person has a ton of bricks hanging over his or her head. Given the offshore nature of much of Manafort's earlier work, not many can be compelled to say anything at all. So, who knows?

Must be Hilldogs fault eh ?

Clinton has her own problems to deal with, and it appears they are growing rather than shrinking.

You are more concerned with a private citizen and what she may have done, than with indictments, and CLEAR proof the Trumps campaign aids WANTED to sell us out to the Russkies? Your priorities are screwy, but hey, ignorance is bliss, enjoy.

There are no real patriots left in the GOP, they should feel ashamed for not holding Trump accountable. If the GOP don't do it, the Dems will Nov 2018. Wake up !!

You have no idea exactly what I'm concerned with, so I'll tell you. I just finished making some trim for a porch ceiling and it's sitting in the bed of a truck outside. I think I'll go cover it.

Accountable for what?

That's a new diversion to avoid facing the truth, enjoy !!

There is a lot more to come. This is only the beginning!

I got a list

How much time you have

First Trump should have condemned the actions from his former associates, he was more concerned about protecting his own butt and blabbering about Hillary, great example set by the CIC eh? lol

If the above is an example of that for which Trump should be held accountable in your mind, I don't really have all that much time.

What Clinton does as a private citizen is one thing; what she did as Secretary of State is another. I think you know this. What you may not know is that "Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise."

poor humbolt, I thought you were smarter than the other conservatives who fell for the "quick, spew a bunch of stories about Hillary that have zero merit to deflect from the impending indictments involving the Trump campaign and collusion". I guess I was wrong.

Can we all just agree to abbreviating that guy's name?

Suggestions: 1. Papadoo - (kind of fun) 2. Poopypants (funnier but immature). Perhaps someone could start a DP poll?

I vote for Nick Pappageorgio

90% of Americans don't care about the ... But Clinton ... Deflections from trump and his followers ...

Must be time for Hannity to give you your talking points ya ? Run along now !!

Well Vern, if you would have read the exchange, you'd have seen that I wasn't the one who brought Hillary up. So yes, you were wrong.
