Finally, the "proof" Mr. Trump promised:

I figured it was something like this when his Press Secretary said people were present when Mr. Trump made the call.

So, cue the nay-sayers who choose to believe a Congresswoman who admits she didn't hear the whole call, but strangely just the part she got up in arms about. :coffeepap:

Have you heard the Family disavow what the Congresswoman stated?

Except for one dumb ass question, I was glad to see the press corps had enough sense to STFU.

This whole ordeal has been an utter embarrassment. Shame on the congresswoman for pissing on this soldier's grave, shame on the media who lapped it up like the cheap whores that they are, and shame on Trump for not, just one ****ing time, taking the high road.

I think they've probably had their fill of being famous at this point. For many different reasons, EVERYONE should let this story die.

They don't have to...they are GRIEVING!

Stop treating them like a political football, which IMO is what the Congresswoman did.

I can't say with certainly. I figure it must suck BIGLY to kiss up to an AssHat President every day!

Kelly attacked her- He is a political appt.
Note his Officer that informed him of his sons death, explained it as a Soldier would to another Soldier. Kelly explained that as such. Did you miss that?
Kelly took another fall for Trump

What the Congresswoman did was a textbook smear tactic.
You take a portion of what someone said, in this case a portion of a sentence, wrap her own narrative around it, and sit back and watch the usual suspects run with it.

Given the fact that his own son was killed in battle, I tend to think this matter struck a particular nerve with him and he was speaking from the heart. Plus, he was present during the call. I have a hard time believing that he would just swallow hard and "take one for the team" given these unique circumstances.

As an Anti-Trumper, I see it a lot differently than you. Shame on Trump, not for what he allegedly said to the grieving family, but for his predictable clumsy handling of criticism by the Congresswoman. She represents a decidedly Anti-Trump constituency. The Press does what it does. General Kelly took a hapless job. Hapless duty drove his rhetorical spin. Some of noticed and rolled our eyes after Kelly criticized the Congresswoman but not the Jackass.

Why would you write something like this when you clearly know nothing about John Kelly.

The man has spent his life giving to our nation. And he and his wife gave a son. A Marine Corp General does NOT kiss up as you say to anyone!
A vile and stupid comment that is truly uncalled for. Shame on you!

Kelly took another fall for Trump

And Kelly said he advised Trump NOT to call, have someone else do it. Someone who had the experience he described.
Trump won't like that.

Yesterday, Trump denied he said those words. Today, Kelly said he told Trump to use those words. Somebody’s not telling the truth.

I agree it struck a nerve. I have four children, two well into adulthood. Few right-minded parents want to outlive any of their children.

I absolutely believe General Kelly swallows hard for the team on a routine basis.

Thank you so very much for posting this clip of the statement of General Kelly - I didn't have the opportunity to see it live, so it was great to get access to it here.

How proud Americans should and must be that such a man has spent his life serving in the name of your country and honoring your nation so. What a fine man this gentleman is and what a great spokesman for both the White House and more importantly the young men and women who put their lives at risk every day in your armed services. I don't care about the dirty politics that are tarnishing this situation and I hope enough proud Americans see this and wash that dirt away as well.

As an aside, wouldn't this man be just an incredible President of your great country one day?

No shame on me. Shame on you! I wrote what I believe and what I feel. No right-minded parent, that includes me, wants to outlive any of their children. God Bless General Kelly's family. His children rank neither higher nor lower than anyone else's children.

No, he did not explain it as he would to another soldier. See that’s part of the problem. People don’t understand English.

Let's see what we have here ...

A retired Marine Corps General .............. AND ............ A terminally partisan Congresswoman who dresses like every day is Halloween

The problem is that with the political divide in America it is virtually impossible for any person with a shred of integrity that can make it through the political process in either party. Politics has become so nasty and corrupt in America that candidates like Trump and Hillary will likely be the norm. I don't have much faith in the future of our democracy in its current state.

No, I don’t really believe that. Obama was pretty damned spotless. Of course, the difference is, they got him young. Not much history to skin him alive about. He was a good man... Not sure anymore, but...

I honestly don't have a hard time believing that at all, nor do I have a problem believing Trump probably was a cold narcissist in some of these phone calls to military families.

Lets be real: Trump lets other people do his dirty work. He also loves to publicly degrade and humiliate people. He's emasculate everyone from Sessions and Rosenstein, right up to Tillerson and Pence, and none of them have shown a willingness to grow a set.

The expression "What's good for the Goose, is good for the Gander" comes to mind.

Par for the course in this WH.

They constantly get caught up in lies making cover stories for the president, only to have someone (usually the president himself) contradict it within a few hours by either making statements that are incompatible with what was previously said, or accidentally confessing what they previously denied.
