Trump only cares about Vets if he can access their 9/11 GI Bill education benefits. His faux concern is just that, fake.

A POW isn't necessarily a hero, but they still deserve respect unless you can prove collaboration with the enemy.
 
Twelve days until he mentions them, and then wrapped in a political lie. He's "written letters" (He's signed a proforma) and he might call the families soon... He's found time to play seven rounds of golf in the last twelve days since these men died.
 
To be fair Trump would of called earlier but more pressing issues came up. If there is one thing Trump learned from Obama it was the importance of correcting a slice as soon as it develops in your game.

Not really much of a difference, especially since 'his people' in this case is probably some article he read on Breitbart.

I agree that being a POW in and of itself doesn't make one a hero. It certainly means you have sacrificed more for your country than over 99% of the country.

I would say that the one POW that Trump called out, McCain, was a hero. Not because he was a POW but because of how he conducted himself while he was a POW.

I'm not the one lying Trump is. There is a pattern to Trump, whenever he says something that the public doesn't like or he is proven wrong, he will say "Oh just kidding" or "That's someone else's fault". Just like he did here, he blamed others. The fact is not only did Trump lie, but he CHOSE to use this tragedy to just bash past presidents to stroke his ego instead of caring for the families and healing a nation like a REAL president would. We don't have fake news, we have a fake president. No personal attack from you can change that FACT.

Yeah, Trump freaking LOVES to say things like "I saw it on television", or "everybody says" or "everybody knows" or "I've been told by many people", all in order to cover his a** when called on his BS claims. It's painfully obvious that he does it only in order to insinuate insanely stupid crap - remember how he swore up and down that he saw on television thousands of Muslims dancing in the streets of New Jersey with the fall of the WTC on 9/11? And when his bogus claim was pointed out, he claimed that it was on television, that we should be asking the TV stations where the footage is...when we all know damned well it never happened.

Get a clue. Trump - and everyone who backs him - is on the wrong side of history.

He lied by saying past presidents didn’t do that. He also chose to disrespect those families by using their children’s deaths as a pulpit for trying to bash previous presidents. Disgraceful human garbage trump is. Why do you support the liar trump?
 
He was quicker to defend "blood and soil" than praise those whose blood was spilled on soil in the name of the US.
 
Why couldn't our president just say, I have not contacted the families yet I would like to give them some time before contacting them.

His comments prior to bringing in other presidents was great he said it was the toughest thing he had to do and how difficult a thing it was. Why not just leave it there?

Why in the world did he have to say anything about any other presidents?

Does it always have to be "but Obama"?

This is just sad. I know he tried to clean it up.
 
Every day, Trump throws another hand grenade into the country's unified cultural identity. It took him a weekend to split football completely down partisan lines, and in this thread alone we see a debate over whether POW's and fallen soldiers deserve respect.

It's going to take generations to repair the damage he's doing to everybody.
 
Trump is a very busy man. He doesn't have time to call the families of fallen soldiers. He's busy dealing with the danger to our country posed by a few NFL players kneeling during the anthem. You people don't seem to understand how critical this NFL problem really is. The grieving families and people of Puerto Rico can wait.
