Desperate Puerto Ricans are drinking water from a hazardous-waste site

Sure it is, but who ever would want to do business on the island without a dependable system? If this place is going to keep going then something needs to happen to make electricity dependable in the face of Hurricanes, as increased hurricane action is likely due to so called global warming. If this is not going to happen then we might as well abandon the place, which is my preferred solution.

not a rational response. solar/wind will be the design change.

30 years of infrastructure was washed away.

Without a doubt Puerto Ricans face an uphill challenge in rebuilding and making the island habital again.
It is most unfortunate that some feel the need to drink water from a hazardous-waste site.

One question. All the pallets water that were piled up behind the San Juan mayor while she was on TV. Where they distributed to these poor people drinking that water?

Puerto Rico, being an island rather than at the other end of a free way, makes transporting emergency supplies and personnel there far more of a logistics challenge.

No one will.

TANSTAAFL, someone always ends up paying. Just a matter of who's left without a chair when the music stops, and it's usually the middle class tax payer, over whom the politicians mouth all sorts of concern and flowery speeches, and then stick it to them in the ass with taxes and tax hikes, as we've seen most recently with Obama.
