The extreme panic on the left about Trump is getting old in a way. Yeah I don't like the guy and he says way too many stupid things, but seriously it is not the end of the world and America is not anywhere near fascism. It started at the very beginning with the 90 day temporary travel ban from a handful of risky countries which was branded a Muslim ban and the left got all riled up. Except that a 90 day temporary pause on a few dangerous countries is hardly banning Muslims from America. Yeah Trump did make a very stupid comment during his campaign about suspending Muslim immigration, but that is nowhere near what actually ended up happening. On DACA he's giving congress a chance to act and actually pass a law clarifying this issue. His Charlottesville comments were portrayed as endorsing Nazism but that's not what he actually did. He said there were bad people on both sides which does have some truth, though still I think he could have done a better job condemning the white supremacists more explicitly. But to say he actually endorsed white supremacy was an overreaction. Honestly my biggest problem with Trump revolves more around the things he says than what he actually does. I also have a problem with how the left and media react to every dumb thing he says with complete panic though. Calm down people. Now Trump is responsible too because the guy doesn't know how to control his mouth and ignites a lot of these things. A big reason that I don't like him as I said. But I've basically accepted how he is and not going to freak out over every idiotic Tweet he makes. It is best just to accept that right now he is president and have to focus on trying to get a more respectable, more unifying president elected in 2020. America is NOT becoming fascist or Nazi at all, we simply have a buffoon for a president right now.

Well said. Action wise Trump hasn't done anything to earn a pat on the back from me or for me to condemn him. Action wise he has been pretty ho hum. His chronic foot in mouth disease has become very tiresome, irritating, it actually drives me nuts at times. My response now is to basically ignore everything he says.

We've been very lucky in this regard. Trump is mind-blowingly incompetent and the Republicans can't agree on anything so they haven't really been able to get anything done. Lots of "feel good" executive orders that don't actually do much but excite the base. It is interesting though watching the right pull a 180 and start loving the Obama economy as Trump hasn't been able to pass any legislation or policies of his own that could've effected it.

There are times where the economy is concerned, doing nothing is the best thing.

There is no doubt that at the point we right now are the hysterical overreacting has done our country much more damage than Trump has.

That 90 days came and went, didn't it? That "temporary" Muslim ban doesn't seem so temporary.

His Charlottesville comments were portrayed as endorsing Nazism but that's not what he actually did. He said there were bad people on both sides which does have some truth, though still I think he could have done a better job condemning the white supremacists more explicitly.

Any human being with a brain would've explicitly condemned the Nazis. Unless one was a little sweet on them.

America is NOT becoming fascist or Nazi at all, we simply have a buffoon for a president right now.

I suppose I agree, his total ineptitude is our saving grace. But that doesn't really excuse his unrelenting attacks on the institutions that underlie our entire American enterprise (not to mention his attacks on truth itself).

There are times where the economy is concerned, doing nothing is the best thing.

And there are times, when fiscal deficits combined with monetary largesse should be reversed.

I completely agree. Addressing the national debt should be the number priority of any administration. But what is one to do when one party goes around stating the debt doesn't matter and the other only at times spouts rhetoric about it, then forgets what they said.

The biggest problem is each party only is concerned about the next election. Anything that happens after that means nothing to them. I completely have given up on both major parties will ever address or do something to get our fiscal house in order until we as a nation have fallen into that fiscal abyss. Then each of the two major parties will go around blaming the other when neither did anything to prevent it.

As a person who has become so hysterical with Trump I joined this forum I struggle to admit it. But I'm coming around.

Let's see, who is ultimately to blame for this? Some of its one me, I must admit.

Yes and it was replaced with a new "proclamation" that still does restrict travel (but in most cases does not completely ban any country and seems more focused on vetting) from certain countries, it doesn't amount to anywhere near a "Muslim ban". The reality is we should be very careful who we let in from certain countries that are risky. The vast majority of the world's Muslims currently enter and exit the US without an issue.

This is near gibberish, as if having "a buffoon for a president right now" is not cause for "panic". The "many stupid things" Trump says are not what signals "the end of the world", so to speak. What does are the characteristics of the man that are behind the stupid things he says. Narcissism is dangerous in a national leader, and Trump is obviously and deeply narcissistic. It is essential to good leadership for the leader to be well informed, and interested in, the social issues that confront the country, and Trump is neither. Any person with power over others must be empathetic for the power to be exercised wisely and justly and Trump is selfish. A leader who can't control his emotions is a ticking time bomb if he has bombs at his disposal - enter Donald Trump.

Well, I've never acted like it's gonna be the end of the world. Some are, but I don't.

...

Agree totally on the debt.

on the biggest problem, I'll go out on a limb and say party's high concern for the next election has always been the case, to varying degree.
On the other hand we have a significant part of the populous who thinks compromise is a dirty word.
I think I've added enough qualifiers to say: That's is something new.

So making false claims that America is now a fascist country is helping us? Trump is a jerk and a buffoon but c'mon. The constantly calling everything racist and white supremacist crap needs to stop. You're alienating a lot of Americans by falsely accusing them of being racist. I don't totally tow the PC line and a lot of the left would call me some racist privileged white male because of that, honestly I'm sick and tired of it. I voted for President Obama twice and I hate racism but I'm so tired of the BLM style far left rhetoric, even though I lean left! The far left people gave us this idiot Trump. Yeah complaining about white men all the time, what a winning strategy! Keep doing it and it'll just get us more Trumps.

The dislike of Trump is mostly because of the horrible press treatment he is getting 24/7. But there is one thing even the media can't hide - economic growth. Things are improving, but you'd never know it.

He has removed and reversed hundreds of regulations that kept a damper on business.

I'll give you half of a like on that post as some of your critical comments on Trump are ideologically based, however considering the insane panic of the left, you are right on the money. Elections have consequences and the left cannot always expect to win. Trump sometimes does create some of his own PR problems by putting his foot in his mouth, however he is not a typical politician. He did not grow up in the political swamp that most politicians do. Trump, for better or worse (better in my opinion) tapped into a populist movement that has been building since 2010. Washington DC has not really been working for the average American for that last three decades. The politicians in the swamp have simply not been listening. What the establishment politicians fear really fear about trump is that he is a threat to the existing status quo good ole boy system that keeps many Senators and Reps in office for decades.

Interesting, esp. because none of what you said is true.

While I agree fully with the first, I believe that it is not so much the politicians' motivational structure as laziness and irresponsibility on the side of voters. This is not to say that twitching the employment contracts of representatives wouldn't help. But it won't make good for the voter negligence.

This is most definitely true. Trump is one person holding office for a very determined period of time. Congress and the courts have the power to limit the extremes of what he may or may not do. However, the culture of violence, hate, and division the left has been cultivating will continue on long after Trump is out of office.

I was hysterical at first tbh, but what's the point? The sky is not falling and America is still America. We have problems but freaking out over things that really aren't as big of a deal as made out to be is just creating more chaos.

Is posting complaints about Trump tweets freaking out? Maybe.
It reminds me a lot of 'the extreme panic on the right about Obama', every time he made a speech and it went through the right wing channels.

I will give trump pats on the back on some issues. he is obviously not giving up on getting rid of Obamacare, even though the establishment assholes in his own party have. He is not giving up on border security. There are already 70% fewer illegal border crossings since he took office. He is actively enforcing our border laws. he is pulling us out of that insane Paris climate accord, which bypassed advise and consent of the Senate and therefore has no real legal standing. Same goes with the instanely stupid nuke deal with Iran. While he has not so far pulled us out of that agreement, he is calling it what it is., a sham. The agreement is not worth the cost of the paper it's written on as nobody gets to inspect Iran's military facilities to verify they are actually in compliance. And while the left claims fear and shock over trump's comments on North Korea, it's about time that a president has come along that does more then just attempting to pacify North Korea. Such soft talk over several presidents is why North Korea is such a growing threat today.

The panic/outrage/over-reaction on the left over Trump IS a lot like what went on over on the right during Obama. What's different I think is that the panic seems to have taken over many in Trump's cabinet and many in the Republican party. That part I don't believe is a media outrage machine creation. It's a real reaction to Trump's lack of self-control and common sense.
