NFL's Goodell wants players to stand for anthem | The Kansas City Star

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday wrote a letter to all 32 league owners regarding the protests that have taken place during the national anthem, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
In the letter, which Schefter shared on his Facebook page, Goodell wrote that the “current dispute over the National Anthem is threatening to erode the unifying power of our game, and is now dividing us, and our players, from many fans across the country.”
I guess the kneeling business, is not good for business. I guess the old saying that "money talks and bull**** walks" holds true. Looks like Kaepernick won't be getting a football job.

If I had a dollar for every **** that I give about this kneeling issue, I'd be broke.

Now the other side gets to boycott the NFL

Years of the NFL hiring and having Wife beaters, GF beaters, Man slaughterers, etc in it. Jerry Jones, Trump, Pence and the millions of phony Conservatives all looked the other way and happily supported the NFL. But now a few guys kneel, and all these same phonies all butt hurt.

This country is loaded with gullible, ignorant people.

White conservatives are snowflakes, you can’t really blame them for being triggered by all this.

Ah yes, "triggered", meaning "disagrees with me and says so". :D

Roger Goodell is paid more than any franchise player (see link). What value does he bring? Seems to be much more friction since he became commissioner. Read somewhere, he just started hanging around the league years ago.....nice work, if you can get it.

It didn’t matter how these players chose to protest, Fox News level conservatives would have shot them down anyway.

They risked their entire careers to say what they had to say and made America notice, that’s more than most of their detractors have ever risked for what they believe.

And all the while much of white conservative America would rather attack them at face value than understand why they’re doing what they do.

Piggy socks?

Nobody is obligated to support any protest, though. Some "triggered" liberals seem to think the protesting players are owed something. I bet there are a number of veterans and police officers that have risked some things too that do not support this. This time you agree with it but would you feel the same if they were protesting abortion or gun control?

So now that all the damage is done they want the players to stand for our national anthem.
What a fiasco the NFL created!

Funny. It seems to me that the ones complaining about 'They shouldn't knee, that offends me' to a large extent are the anti-pc crowd. That's ironic.

It's just more annoying bullcrap attention-seeking by immature athletes. Same as praying on the field and dancing in the end zone- cheap showboating.
As is the response from high-level government grandstanders. Attention whores, everyone involved.

Oh, triggers have been pulled, and buttons pushed, but they've been over there, not here on the left.

Is it that much to ask to show respect for people that put their lives on the line for this country?

Do these football players have this much disdain for people that serve and this country they want to side with groups like ISIS?

And the PC crowd, usually so careful to avoid offense is like, "**** it, offend as many people as you possibly can".

That goes both ways.

You gonna tell me if Tim Tebow took a knee during the anthem because of the “senseless slaughter of babies” you would react the same way as you have to these men?

Not just for these players, but people of any background who brings up the issues these people are bringing up, white conservative America largely says “shut up”.

They don’t want to know, they don’t want to understand and so it doesn’t matter how these guys chose to protest, they weren’t going to get anywhere with White conservative America anyway, but history will ultimately look more kindly on them than their detractors.

People need to stop spewing their crap about white conservatives being the ones that are solely offended by the flag/anthem protests.

68% of Americans thinks it's wrong.

That's not true at all. Some of you just cannot ****ing stand that there's any push back on this and if doesn't take much to tweak it. Its half the reason I even stay interested in the topic.

Thing is now that he has completely changed his mind "I was wrong, OOPS!" , now that the NFL has been damaged by this labor action that he said had to be allowed, he has to go. He should have been shown the door a few years ago, but he has this plan to double revenue see, and the owners need more money to keep everything rolling see , they have become addicted to large yearly revenue gains to keep all the factions paid off see....

And they are very scared what happens to team values when that stops, as it will the next time the TV contracts change, 2022 I believe.

Goodell is the only one they think can get them past 2022, so they have bent over backwards to keep him around.

GOODELL HAS TO GO

It's respecting those people to exercise the rights they supposedly fought and died for.

I asked you first.

It is bad/wrong/unreasonable to disagree that cops are pigs and disagree that this country is nothing but a racist hell hole? Why it it only your beliefs that should be respected if you don't think "white conservatives" should be?

Respect the people who are on the frontline keeping us safe.

IMO kneeling is extremely disrespectful and symbolically un-American.

It really shows reverence to groups like ISIS who forces their victims to kneel before they chope their heads off.

And would you judge them if they don't agree with the protest?

That's nice. It's not.

No, it doesn't show 'reverence' to groups like ISIS whatsoever.

You seem unable to grasp the reality of this issue.
