Could be. The NFL cares only about being maximizing profits for the $billionaire owners, sell ads, hot dogs, beer, jerseys, cars, whatever, which is the point of the entertainment we call "football" and if a few blacks kneeling for the fake show of patriotism put on before games to sell more ads and consumer goods gets in the way of profits, well, they'll have to change the rules and require employees to do their profit-maximizing duty and stand for the fake show of patriotism before the game.

If all the players shouting "We love the troops!" as they broke the huddle made them money, the NFL would require that too. Maybe they'll make the end zones a big U.S. flag, so the players can respect it by spiking the football into a flag! That would be fun! Or maybe before any interview, all players should be required to say, "God bless America!" then follow that with the usual drivel about playing hard, etc. Whatever it takes to make the advertisers and car companies and beer companies happy!

Did anybody watch Monday Night Anthem last night?

If you have to force someone against their will to stand to honor the Flag then it isn't really an honor at all. Especially when the reason you think the flag deserves to be honored is because it symbolizes "freedom."

If you force someone against their will to stand for a flag that symbolizes "freedom" then the flag no longer symbolizes freedom.

Nothing else signifies the freedom the American flag stands for than compulsory patriotism.

It's entirely dependent on how this plays out in the public and how it affects the NFL's bottom line. It's possible that the NFL is now in a position where it will lose business either way. But don't make the mistake of thinking that the decision will be based on anything but money.

NFL already has said rule and protocol.

Except no one is demanding compulsory patriotism. What is being demanded is that they not disrespect the nation by dropping to a knee or sitting on the bench. But it is good, at least, that you recognize that standing is the patriotic move.

LOL, no one is demanding compulsory patriotism, they are just demanding compulsory shows of patriotism!!

FWIW, standing or sitting or eating a hot dog or texting on your phone during the national anthem have exactly ZERO to do with actual patriotism. Much like going to church and sitting in the front row on Sunday has NOTHING to do with being an actually good Christian. Etc......

Except it's not actually patriotism, it's just the idea of patriotism. The American flag is disrespected on a daily basis by millions of America but those same people claim that standing for an anthem makes them patriots.

Well said. Seems obvious.
