FUNNY: Why People Are Moving to Russia

Perhaps your attention span is already exhausted, and you should know, that I'm perfectly okay with German fast food (The Currywurst). Or you are just to good of a debater for reading whole threads.

I see, you are such an interesting Dude.

I once left a currywurst on a plate on a warm stove all night, by accident. The next morning all that was on the plate was a pool of white fat. I've stayed away from them ever since.

The people were broken by the time he arrived.

Putin is a healer...which is why in the face of massive sanctions from the West crippling the economy and driving them into China's hands where they have to work at a deep discount his approval rating runs above 80%.

EDIT: Anyone who wants to try to understand Russia and Putin needs to read this:

This will not include Congress Critters Natch!

Sophie Pinkham's article offer a good base for talk and debate between Americans and Russians. So I do not agree with some of her analysis, but I would be glad if some MSM media hardened-influenced would at least read her article.

I know, fast food like junk food is not good for You. So it does taste so good, once in a while, not more than once a month . I got to eat it.

Everyone we knew that adopted from Russia (we adopted from China), had to pay all kinds of "fees" to get various documents processed and so on. They were bribes, though officials don't call them that. That is how bribes work. No one calls them a bribe, but its money you pay that is unofficial and you would not otherwise pay. For example, in China, both times we adopted we had to pay 700 or so RMB to expedite our adopted daughters passports. It sounds official, but it was a bribe because there is no official government fee or process for that. I don't know your individual experience of course, but I do know this was extremely common in Russia.

In Russia, when dealing with government officials or govt/private services, you'll need to bribe. Everything from obtaining a driver's license to scheduling a doctor's visit.

No government/document process is simple, and all down the line different officials expect a "gratuity".

In the Moscow/St. Petersburg metro areas, virtually every car has front/rear dash-cams. The purpose is to videotape shakedowns by the corrupt traffic cops.

Extremely high approval ratings are a sign of totalitarianism.

Or genuine approval. It all depends on what other policies the leader commits in his own country. Putin routinely conducts brutal policies in his ow country, so it's easy to tell that his approval rating is artificially inflated.

Russia is a really fascinating country. I was there 5 years ago visiting a friend in Moscow, and in my backpacking days I took the trans-siberian rail right across. It's a diverse place with a lot to see and do. So much culture, you can stay there for years and still only scratch the surface.

In the U.S. we are brainwashed to hate them and all we talk about is their politics, but on the every-day ground level Russia is a lovely place to visit, just like the U.S.! I can see why some people might want to make a life there.

Plus there is no real opposition. If you have no real opposition, then there is no alternative for citizens. If the meal choices are steak or lobster, then some people will want steak, and some lobster. However, if the meal choice is only steak, then steak is going to have a much higher approval rating.

Would you be so kind as to highlight to top couple of places where she goes wrong or missed important things??
