Is it a passing storm or an existential problem? That’s a key question for the NFL as it grapples with the mushrooming controversy of players kneeling in protest during the national anthem, and President Donald Trump’s persistent bashing of the kneelers.

A new Yahoo Finance poll suggests the NFL has an enduring problem on its hands. Nearly 62% of 9,056 respondents told us they plan to watch less pro football in response to the anthem controversy. Thirty-six percent said they plan to buy less NFL merchandise, and 32% have chosen not to attend a game they would otherwise have gone to. Those findings all have financial implications for the NFL and its 32 team owners.

Yup...has nothing to do with Kaepernick and Anthem protest :lamo:lamo:lamo TRUMP WINNING AGAIN:lamo

Maybe the NFL should have checked with its customers before letting a group of idiotic Anti American BLM supporters employees destroy their business.

At least the wall of denial seems to be coming down. Before Trump took them on, the narrative was that the cause of the viewership decline was the election, hurricanes, Netflix, anything but the blatant anti-Americanism on display each week. As if Americans were just fine with Kaepernick's radicalism.

Perhaps the NFL shouldn't have mixed sports with politics in the first place, by accepting government money to sing the national anthem before the ball games.

Perhaps it is that the economy is now beginning to get so bad that people are unwilling to waste so much of their valuable time doing something that adds no value to their lives.

I think most of them realize the party is over and it is time to put aside foolish things like TV and begin to look at what is happening in their country before the rich finish turning it into Greece.

by accepting government money to sing the national anthem before the ball games.

At the end of the war, after Japan announced it would surrender, NFL Commissioner Elmer Layden called for all of the league's teams to play "The Star-Spangled Banner" at their games, arguing, “The National Anthem should be as much a part of every game as the kick-off. We must not drop it simply because the war is over. We should never forget what it stands for.”

who paid the nfl in 1945?

Perhaps the NFL shouldn't have mixed sports with politics in the first place, by accepting government money to sing the national anthem before the ball games.

Department of Defense had spent $6.8 million between 2012 and 2015 on what the senators called "paid patriotism" events before professional sports games, including American flag displays, honoring of military members, reenlistment ceremonies, etc. The DoD justified the money paid to 50 professional sports teams by calling it part of their recruiting strategy.

Who was Commander and Chief at that time?

Obamas DOD paid the NFL to mix sports and politics so Thank Him for it

1941-42: Playing the national anthem before the start of regular season baseball games became the standard. And with the U.S. in World War II now, the National Football League also included the playing of the anthem before games.

I ask for your prove of pmt from the government to MLB and the NFL in the 1940s

Arguing about the flag is a hustle. It's pure politics. That's it. It diverts our attention away from fixing our problems.

Did Obama issue an executive order for the DoD to pay the NFL? If not, then he had little to do with it.

Reminder: Obama Paid the NFL Millions to Be Patriotic

Let me know whos DOD it was if it was not Obamas

So we have Obama paying millions to the NFL to show patriotism and injecting politics, he is not slammed!

Trump says players must stand show patriotism etc...and he he slammed

Last I checked the congress controls the purse strings...and the link your article quoted made no mention of Obama whatsoever....

So prove that Obama approved the Pentagon's payments to the NFL.

Trump represents the government now...and his interference in the issue is infringing on the first amendment.
