How About We Give The Administrations Puerto Rican Relief Efforts a Chance?

Think I should submit an application? ;)

just make certain your resume is filled with superlatives
proper spelling and punctuation optional; they would never recognize the error

I agree about Trump's own insecurities, but FEMA has never handled a off shore island before. Like Katrina........lessons will be learned.

hurricane iniki in hawaii says you are wrong

Is there any bad thing that happens anywhere on the planet where the real victim isn't Donald Trump?

During Katrina and after the stories were about the relief effort, the problems and the heroism. Here, like everything American anymore this story is about Trump.

I do admire how hard his followers work lying for him though. That's loyalty knowing you're making yourself unbelievable

The Elite class is in such low regard because they became unbelievable, this little problem of lack of fidelity to truth is not limited to Trump.

The best of men speak truth.

FEMA has been established in Hawaii long before we were born. FEMA has never dealt with this sort of population density, and handling logistics on this level offshore outside of military operations. Haiti doesn't even come close, and I was there handling emergency generators with the Marines.

Yes...you are right in regards to offshore, and I should have made myself clearer on the issue.

But we still learn as we go.

Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico on September 20. And this occurred only two weeks after Puerto Rico was still trying to recover from the damaging effects of Hurricane Irma.

Today is September 30. The island is devastated with apocalyptic damage to the power grid, communications, and logistics (airports/roads/bridges/rails etc.).

And you don't seem to have any problem at all with Trump flying off to NJ to smack some woods and irons at his luxury golf course and having an attitude with the mayor of San Juan.

wtf?

Exactly! Apocalyptic damage. Did that all get fixed in 10 days well enough for any support can actually reach people? I think the mayor of San Juan is the one with the attitude.

Better late than never is more like it. Obama had 10,000 troops on the ground in Haiti just 2 days after the quake. We STILL don't have that many in PR.

Obama didn't have Texas and Florida to deal with at nearly the same time. That's an unequal comparison.

Are you sure that Puerto Rico is an island?

It must be news to the Trump administration. If a Cat 5 hurricane is headed for a small island don't you think that planning should have started BEFORE the storm hit? Everything about the situation is predictable. Did they not consider that if power was out and roads blocked that distributing supplies might be difficult? Could they not have gotten fuel to hospital generators sooner?

You missed this, post #17

And before the storm! The gvmt had a million meals and a million gallons of water in safe harbor as close as they could get.

Pffft! Obama wudda had a billion gallons of water and a billion meals closer, and he'd have a whole electric grid, Obamaphone towers, cars, trucks, big screen TV's, frozen yogurt, and James Taylor.

Response after response from the disloyal opposition and none addressing the points made in the OP, namely

1. Trump was correct when he said Puerto Rico was an island surrounded by an ocean of water.

2. Trump was not "slamming Puerto Rico" when he was talking about the mayor of San Juan and some "other leaders" wanting other's to act for them.

3. There are a number of supply and logistical barriers facing disaster relief in Puerto Rico preventing the same kind of speedy action which could occur on the mainland.

NOPE!

Just the typical tactics of diversion; emotional appeals, straw man or red herring arguments, and personal attacks on anyone who doesn't agree with their world view.

Reminds me of the Daleks from Dr. Who:

EXTERMINATE! EXTERNMINATE! EXTERMINATE!

This is why those who do so only end up convincing those who already believe their narrative or fear their bullying tactics. :coffeepap:

I see, your OP ignores the valid criticisms of Tump and cherry picks a few criticisms you can defend and you ignore all replies that don't address your OP and level stronger arguments. Got it.

How does the issue of Puerto Rico being an island get your list but the fact that he spent this crisis tweeting about the NFL not make your list?

I'll address one of your narrow points. You say Trump's claim that "they want everything done for them" was targeted at a few individuals.

But does it make any sense for a leader to get into a personal feud during a crisis? How is the mayor of Puerto Rico supposed to get supplies from the ports to the people who need them? Is it appropriate for him to be attacking them from a luxury golf course?

I think people are catching on to your game of ignoring arguments you can't handle.

Have you noticed that no matter what happens around the world liberals squeak that trump is a jerk?

He is a jerk. So, liberals are right for a change.

Huh???? I said that Trump was right about number 1. Why are you so concerned with that? You didn't even bother to reply to me though, because you obviously got triggered by how bad the optics are for Trump, that you automatically go to your political pro-trump rage-a-meter. Face it Captain, the optics look terrible, and there is no win-win for the President on this one no matter how hard he tries. PR is a disaster and I think it would be wise for Trump and Trump supporters to stop pretending like things are going fine down there.

I don't know what the proper amount of response any administration should provide to Puerto Rico in their current condition. I do know it's completely unpresidential to take shots at someone who is knee-deep in the trenches working to help her fellow citizens just because you have the temperament of a child.

looks like trump is doing a crap job at making America great again.

He would be doing better if the almost the entire elite class were not on strike.

Just Sayin....

The reason for the difference in response is very simple. Puerto Rico has no Electoral College votes. They do have a disproportionately large number of Americans serving in the armed forces though.

THey are not fully Americans....they are not as good as us.

There, I said it.

TOO MUCH LIKE HAITI

NOT ENOUGH LIKE REAL AMERICANS!

Actually, this is your chain of prior posts:

Yeah nothing's ever Trump's fault. Even though he apparently has the vocabulary of a five year old. "Big Water." Seriously? There was a Land Before Time movie with the same title! I watched when I was younger. It was about dinosaurs being scared to cross a big ocean.

Fairly off topic, eh?

That's what happens when you become, "leader of the free world." He really picked a bad career if he wanted to please everyone all the time. He was brainwashed by his own BS. But nobody is saying Trump is wrong that Puerto Rico is an island, people are saying that he is making it too simplistic by blaming the citizens of the island, who are dying and have no food or water while he goes off to golf!

Yet my OP shows he was NOT "blaming the citizens of the island." He was reacting to the Mayor of San Juan, and a couple of other "leaders" who were making public statements about how poor his Administration's response has been.

So you agreed on item 1., mistook the point of item 2., and had no response for item 3.

That's how I see it anyway.

We've reached Peak Hawkeye here, ladies and gentlemen.

What an absolutely despicable sentiment.

That's right, because Hawkeye believes in accountability, which is so very out of fashion as Victim Culture has triumphed.

NOTE TO KOBIE: I have no intention of surrendering the HIGH ROAD to you, because I own it.

What on earth are you blathering about?

And no, with comments like that, you own no high road. That's about as muck-dwellingly low as it gets.

PR's have given up, they load up on debt, they dont give two ****s about doing anything right, so why should I care what happens to them?

SERIOUS QUESTION
