Workings of government so good that they felt the need to go to great lengths to keep it secret.
Renewed Calls For Patriotism Over Politics When Drawing District Lines

Renewed Calls For Patriotism Over Politics When Drawing District Lines : NPR

Quote from article:
"At the meeting, when he saw his new district, "It was obvious to me that I'd have no trouble getting re-elected." He OK'd the new district lines and signed a confidentiality agreement.

All of this was done in total secrecy."
Emphasis in bold mine.

Gerrymandering is one of the worse most ****ed up problems in government right now and it doesn't get 1/20 the attention it deserves. Its one of the biggest ways the people are being robbed.

Yep, welcome to the world of identity politics.

ohio-gerrymandering

Here in Ohio it is pretty bad as well but we're fighting to fix it.

"2012 election. Democratic candidates for the Ohio House received over 55,000 more votes than the Republicans. Yet gerrymandered districts led the Republican Party to win a supermajority of 60 out of 99 seats."

I wish Congressional districts we're formed based on population by county, with splits having to be drawn using nothing but straight, orthagonal lines. All districts must be drawn with county lines plus no more than three intersecting, orthagonal lines, i.e. an extended box into another county. Two neighboring populous counties could split a middle lower pop county, for example, to make each district average a million voters.

I don't care if it's difficult to draw. Current districts must be a nightmare, anyway.

The problem with that is racism apparently, since blacks are densely populated it takes away their political power

You got stuck with Doggett he was my congressman before the redistricting

Yep, we can't get rid of him either. It should be illegal to have districts that contain part of more than one county. This disaster of a Gerrymandered district has parts of 5 counties yet no whole county.

Um he was specifically controlling for population wtf are you talking about.

The point is you can't draw the ones like he was taking about because it creates nearly all black districts and limits their political power that has already been ruled that the lines can't be drawn in that fashion
