Holy ****e. Learn something new every day. Thing is, most media, books, magazines, newspapers and films in 1929 portrayed minorities in overtly racist and stereotypical ways. No one thought anything of it. It was the norm. Sad but true.
 
I could understand the charge of "racism" if it was a book that had the "N" word in it like Huck Finn.
But Dr. Seuss? Give me a break.

The democratic party is not a person. And the Republican outrage over Black men kneeling but no demand for an apology from Trump saying POWs are not heroes has revealed where the racists are. I bet if Tom Brady took a knee protesting Obamacare you would love him. Please give this Democratic party of the past nonsense a rest and deal with the racists in the Republican party in the South.

All I said is that I'll never look at Dr. Seuss illustrations the same again. I don't think the books should be pulled from the shelf given that almost all Whites were racists before Civil Rights.

Moreover, it appears that Dr. Seuss had very progressive messages hidden in his books.

I think you said it all. Michelle Obama can read Dr. Seuss books to children and not a peep from the left. Melania Trump gives Dr. Seuss books to libraries and all of a sudden Dr. Seuss is racist. Just goes to show why Trump won the election in the first place. The arrogant politically correct liberal left has just run amok and gone too far.

You might be ok knowing that he renounced his racism and changed as a person afterwards.

I would say that that's what we want right? People to change from being racists to not being racists. It's the best we can hope for.

I didn't know that. I only learned about his racist cartoons from this thread. Did some googling and learned about his progressive views which I mentioned in another post. Now I'm learning he renounced racism. So the librarian is totally wrong.

I love this political cartoon of his. It's prefect for today's NFL controversy...

she sees racism in dr. suess
and i think she is talking out her caboose

she didnt want Suess from Melania
She wanted books about Narnia

she doesnt like the president
and thats might evident

all she has is the racecard
