A Real President: Obama's Response to the NFL Anthem Controversy

You can make all the excuses and point fingers all you want..

History is never an excuse. It just is. Go burn a book or tear down a statue. That seems more your speed rather than factual analysis or research.

Trying to blame all the evils of the world on one person now is ridiculous and requires a willfully dishonest ignoring (or ignorance possibly) of basic history. Or perhaps rewriting history is neccessay for your agenda (whatever that is).

As a fan of studying honest history in general ( good or bad) I find your analyis both incorrect and cluttered with partisan bs based on the data available.

Oh gag me with a ****ing spoon. O'Bama left this country more divided than it had been for literally decades. You might be able to peddle this nonsense to sycophant drones, but thinking people know better.

I get the feeling you never liked the man much. I heard his entire comments and there was nothing at all nonsensical about them. He spoke about unity and the importance of trying to understand other's viewpoints.

A fair analogy, I think. In fact, extending the analogy, the leftist boil will continue to need lancing for quite some time to come, until it is either significantly reduced in size and impact, or disappears completely.

I doubt the policies of attempting to control and steal from others will ever go away but they can be mitigated through proper enforcement of laws.

"The End of Gleichschaltung
we turn to the ugliest face of progressive fascism; namely its effort to establish a uniformity of thought and feeling across the country. The
leftist project here mirrors what Joseph Goebbels said about Nazi Gleichshaltalung: “National Socialism is not only a political doctrine, it is a
total and all-encompassing general perspective on all public matters. We hope the day will come when nobody needs to talk about National Socialism
any more, since it has become the air that we breathe. People must get used inwardly to this way of behaving, they must make it into their own set of
attitudes. Only then will it be recognized that a new will to culture has arisen.”6
The Left, seeking precisely the same conformity of thought and feeling across American society, pursues its own Gleichschaltung not merely
through “fire in the streets” but also through the long march through theinstitutions. Having largely overtaken the institutions, the Left can now use
academia, the media, and Hollywood—their state-within-a-state—for outright fascist propaganda. At the same time, it excludes and expels from those
institutions conservative and dissenting voices. Its fascist street thugs—who call themselves “activists”—do not hesitate to harass, intimidate, and beat up
anyone who threatens this left-wing Gleichschaltung. This type of fascism requires a new type of response from the Right. So
far conservatives have contented themselves with documenting and deploring the bias of academia, the media, and Hollywood. This is scarcely enough. We
have to break up this monopoly of information. We have to open up new space for rival and dissenting viewpoints. We have to create rival cultural
institutions. And we have to stop the street thugs. This will require, from the Right, a new creativity, a new resolve, and a new willingness to use lawful
physical force. -Dinesh Desouza

The difference between Trump and Obama is absolutely staggering. A real president tries to unite the nation and settle conflicts. Trump threw gasoline on the fire.

I totally forgot he ever said this.

I totally agree with what he said in that clip. My question: why is but...but..but...Obama is a valid argument when it fits the liberal purpose, but ridiculed when used against it? Honestly asked question to understand the reasoning.

Ummmmmmm. There has been more than one party since somewhere around 1776. Typical lefty though, trying to divide the country by calling half of it racist. If you can remember, that didn't work for Hillary.

It's absolutely amazing that the left leaners can claim that the divisiveness over the past 8 years was due to the right, conveniently forgetting that Obama, the black guy, could not have won, twice, without at least some right and center votes.

Now. Now. That is a very inconvenient truth that must be swept under the rug.

So it was Obama who spent 8 years calling Obama a secret muslim, claiming Obama was lying about his place of birth, claiming that Obama was racist who wanted to destroy America and turn it into a third world country?

Of course not. It was the right saying those divisive things. But somehow it's Obama's fault that they were forced to say them?

It's really not fair to talk about a very small percentage of people who are far right wackos and claim that everyone on the right is like that. Same holds true of the left, such as the wacko librarian who thinks Dr. Seuss books are racist. You have talked to me before about painting with a broad brush and yet here you are doing the very same thing that you accuse others of doing.

I figured someone would pop up to tell that stupid lie. As you are fully aware, between 2009 and around 2013, multiple pollsters collected regular polls on the rates at which self-identified Rs, Ds, and Independents believed (1) that Obama was not born in the US, (2) that Obama was lying about his religion.

Consistently, self-identified Rs stated at rates of 40-45% that Obama was not born in the US, separately, was lying about his religion. Roughly 20% "weren't sure."

So what? Just because most all Americans are kind of stupid doesn't mean that stupidity is mainly on the right. Did you ever watch Jay Leno's Jaywalking? Have you seen the polls that a large percentage of Americans think that Judge Judy is a Supreme Court justice? All you have shown is that, according to polls of the right, there are a lot of stupid ones, without showing that polls of the left show there are a lot of stupid people there as well. Let's face it, there are a lot of stupid people on both sides.

Translation..... its ok for Obama to voice his opinion but not Trump

Well, there is stupidity on both sides, true. The numbers of self-identified Dems who believed the things the self-identified Rs said was about 20% and 10%, as against 40% and 20%.

But no, it was not equal. And that is important because the post I was responding to asserted that all of the divisiveness of the Obama years was down to Obama. I was pointing out the rather obvious fact that it was actually from a majority of the right. Obama certainly jumped the gun on occasion. "The cambridge police acted stupidly", for example. But I've never see a President take so much hate or take it so stoically. It made the left's general response to Bush look tame.

It's bled into this administration. It drove the election. Can you honestly look at all the threads on DP that call the left various names, in total, and tell me that the divisiveness is just down to Obama or the left generally? No, you can't.

I don't know what history or burning books or tearing down statues have to do with anything, but the fact of the matter is you voted for a race baiting birther for president. Trump's entire campaign, and now presidency, has been based on divisiveness and race baiting. No amount of insults will change the fact that you voted for a wretched piece of garbage as president. A guy so bloody awful, even the Republican party wants nothing to do with him. Or haven't you not been paying attention in how damn obvious it is at how YOUR own political party won't even back their own president's agenda.

But keep obsessing over EVIL "liberals" and quoting right wing hacks like Desousza and ignore what's right in front of your eyes.

The rabid left are at 100% resistance, higher than the rabid right resistance was against Obama.

You know...
It takes time to mend our country after this dude and his regime divided us.
As of now our President Trump is dealing with issues . Puerto Rico and surrounding island hit by hurricanes,Florida and Texas still recovering,The massacre in Las Vegas.
Mr. Trump is handling these situations with care.
Can Barack 'DJ Khalid " Obama do the same ?
No...this dude has proven not caring about America or any other affairs. If he did we would not have the BLM shenanigans protesting against us and our police.

I don't know what history or burning books or tearing down statues have to do with anything, .

Classic tactics of the fascists, socialists, nazis, and the left.

Oh and then blame it on someone else. Thats key.

Pay attention. Its good for you.

Translation..... its ok for Obama to voice his opinion but not Trump

Obama intelligently discussed the merits of both points of view and encouraged everyone to try and understand the other's point of view. Trump picked a side and told people to boycott the NFL.

If Obama were like Trump, he would have taken Kaepernick's side and called for a boycott of the NFL until Kaepernick is back in the NFL. He would continually have tweeted about the NFL and talked about even during a crisis.

Trump is a joke. The rest of the world is laughing at us. Trump is a complete moron. You can't compare him to ANY president.

The rabid left are at 100% resistance, higher than the rabid right resistance was against Obama.

But their gripe with Obama were political. Trump is just a terrible human being and president.

The sitting president of the United States encouraged people to boycott the NFL. That's the Federal Government intervening in private industry in an attempt to bankrupt it because it's not being patriotic enough. That's just insane. That's authoritarianism at its finest.

You guys can never again complain about liberal authoritarianism again if you can stomach this insanity.

That's your opinion. But, I appreciate you agreeing with me.
