I am getting real tired of the Trump show. So a man with no honor, no respect, no dignity, no humility, no decency is going to dictate to the rest what Patriotism is? A man who is under investigation for Obstruction of Justice, along with colluding with Russia to interfere into an American election is going to dictate to the rest what Patriotism is? A man who wrote in his book that his "personal VietNam" was avoiding sexually transmitted diseases is going to dictate to the rest what Patriotism is?

Trump had no reason to attack the NFL The NFL & NBA have always handled their own disgruntled players. So instead of talking about Government issues--as he was elected to do--he decided to make a career move into Sports management. He does this all of the time. He goes off rail--and goes out on personal attacks of American Citizens, John McCain, Ted Cruz, Women, other politicians, and even Boening Aircraft (whom I am certain hurt their business)--simply because the CEO of that company criticized one of his policies. Now it's the NFL & the NBA.

So Trump stirred the pot and what was one protestor turned into many--whom are simply protesting his disrespect toward them. (not the Flag). In a couple of weeks after everyone has burned their team gear, he'll want more attention and find another victim--another American entity or person or group to attack to keep his supporters in line and their hysteria elevated. This is what a Narcissist does. Government issues are too boring for him, and possibly too complicated.

Furthermore, are we to ignore the 1st Amendment of the Constitution that gives everyone the right to protest--anywhere/anytime as long as it's peaceful now? Is this the new Trump country of America? Frankly--I would much prefer that our sports players WANT to stand during the National Anthem rather than being FORCED too. Isn't that really what the flag represents?

I am going to continue to support my team regardless if they're standing or kneeling, because I am a Patriot of this country, and know what our Forefathers intended for this country to be, along with our Veterans and military who have sacrificed so much to make this country what it is today.

how clever... turning the issue into "do you like Trump or not like Trump?"

I'm sure you'll get TONS of converts

I love Kaepernick's protest about how racism in America is unfair is being co-opted by liberals to make it a referendum about Trump. What? That special election in Montana and Georgia wasn't enough?

False dichotomy.

It's not your team or Trump. It's an issue regarding law enforcement vs respect for your entire nation.

You guys have so many threads open on basically the same topic running at the same time. Need to amalgamate them.

False dichotomy.

Id say thats equally as false of a dichotomy as the OP.

People want to make the issue into what the OP is falsely trying and people also want to make it into what you stated above but its neither.

Regarding the question posed in the thread title - To stand or not stand with your team: here in Michigan our NFL team is the Lions. One does not so much as stand with the Lions as lay back and wait to simply get screwed each year.

Just another Trump smear mixed in with football.

Any business that goes against patriotism is going to lose the battle.
So somehow you will see the NFL back peddle on this issue.

Not only is this about his views on police...

A direct quote from Kapernick on what this whole thing is about
"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag that oppresses black people and people of color"

It is DIRECTLY to not show respect to the entire nation... Kapernick disapproves the nation and refused to to stand up for the flag.

What is most interesting about this topic is its pushing all of the other much more interesting ones aside. It is really sad that so many folks let themselves be run off in in every which way direction.

Well, that is how I see it.

1.) didnt say it wasnt about police, its the VS thing thats not accurate and is totally subjective to peoples feelings and nothign more

2.) Weird, you use the word "directly" but yet i dont see him say that he is doing it to directly "not to show respect" and that he "doesn't approve of the nation" those are YOUR words and YOUR assumptions and nothing more. Thank you for proving my point. lol

While I completely disagree with the false narrative, the author of the OP is an independent
yet you mentioned "libs" TWICE in a 3 sentence 23 word post. :lmao

Trump does this for attention--and it's usually to divert attention away from other critical issues--especially the Russian investigation. Puerto Rico is underwater, Houston is a mess. There's numerous things that he could have talked about, but his personal attacks on others remain his top agenda.

It's for attention--that's what he craves. But after all this you think this country would have gripped his modus of operende and they still haven't.

No other President in this nation's history has gone out on personal attacks of others. Regardless if you liked their policies or not, they always acted Presidential and with respect toward others. They tried to Unify--not Divide.

Well actually I was a life long Republican until you made this Ass Clown the poster boy of the Republican party, and then switched my party status to Independent.

I followed the advice of a long time Friend and former Staffer of Ronald Reagan--(of which I am a strong patriot of Ronald Reagan.)

And which is why I can take anyone on in any debate--because I have been a political junky for decades & know both sides of an issue well.

“If we must have an enemy at the head of government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible.” Alexander Hamilton

You voted for it, you got it, and now you're responsible for it.

I gave up standing on command/demand for the flag and the anthem or regurgitating the pledge on command 5 decades ago.

Yeah they will.

Republicans have two options.
1. Remove Trump from office asap or
2. Burn the entire party down in 2018--2020 & beyond.

If Republicans can do 8 investigations into Benghazi, it's not hard to imagine what Democrats will do with Treason, Obstruction & Lies when they take over in 2018. You'll also get a great education into what that Emoluments clause in the Constitution is all about, (which is also impeachable) should Democrats not want go along with the current set-up.

You really couldn't have given Democrats a more powerful Weapon than electing Donald Trump.

This has gone from one NFL player kneeling to protest police tactics to as of Sunday, millionaire players, billionaire team owners vs. a billionaire president. Trump attacked the NFL and the NFL players and owners counter attacked on Sunday. This is a battle between the moneyed elites. I'm content to sit back and watch the moneyed elitist fight this feud out between themselves.

Others aren't that content, they have made Sunday's actions a feud between the pro-Trumpers and anti-Trumpers. The original reason for the kneeling has long been forgotten. Perhaps when Trump opened his big mouth, that is what he had in mind. Now the battle is the NFL and the anti-Trumpers vs. Trump and his pro Trumpers.

Neither one deserves my support and neither is going to get it.

As I stated I meant it. Donald Trump is in this for one reason--ATTENTION--and the American public still has not noticed these continual attacks on American entities in this country--women--men or groups that he will roll for ATTENTION.

The NFL were huge supporters of Trump.
Here are the NFL owners who have donated to Trump - NY Daily News

Now they're on CNN and other stations regreting that decision. One player actually stating: "We elected this guy and now he is trying to separate us." He's more interested in how far he can drive the NFL's ratings down, than he is about any Government issue going on right now.

This is his mental disorder:

But a lack of empathy is just one part of narcissistic personality disorder. Just beneath the surface layer of overwhelming arrogance lies a delicate self-esteem that is easily injured by any form of criticism. We have all seen Trump unjustifiably lash out at a number of people with harsh and often extremely odd personal attacks. When he thought he had been treated unfairly by Fox News host and Republican debate moderator Megyn Kelly, he responded by calling her a “bimbo” and later saying that she had “blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever.” In response to the strange, misogynistic comments Kelly said that she “may have overestimated his anger management skills.” If the news host would have pegged him as a bona fide narcissist from the beginning she might have expected such shamelessly flagrant behavior.

What is it exactly that makes someone a certifiable narcissist and not simply a person who has a healthy amount of confidence and a burning desire to achieve great goals? According to the Mayo Clinic, narcissistic personality disorder is “a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for attention & admiration and a lack of empathy for others.”
