What is the Rich's Fair Share?

Proportional to what the poorest person pays in absolute terms. If Poor Citizen X only has $150 a week after tax, then the rich should be taxed so they're only left with $150 a week.

You still need folks with meat on their bones, clothes on their backs and a hut over their heads to be able to spare some of that skin so forgiving a decent allowance before any federal income taxation begins is not such a bad idea.
Why is it a bad idea to tax them. Let them pay taxes like the rest of us and if they dont have enough for those things they can apply for welfare like they do now.

Your's was a fantasy argument to begin with. Just as real as unicorns.

Belittlement is also not a counter-argument. If my argument is "fantasy", then you should have no trouble debunking it with reasoned counter-argument instead of insults.

To make it easier for you, here's my central claim: if a government can't make itself rich using the free market, it is not competent enough to run a country, and cannot be trusted to handle taxpayer money.

Neither is a nation without taxation but you suggested it none the less.

I proposed state-owned enterprise as an alternative. I want successful businessmen running my country, not tax-and-spend ideologues.

Perhaps I have a logical answer. We all pay income tax, sales tax, gas tax, utility tax, communications tax, retail tax, vehicle tax, registration tax, Internet tax, property tax, and numerous hidden taxes and this is only a partial list. Add up all individual taxes and calculate what percentage of income they are and that is the tax percentage for the wealthy. A fair number. Perhaps proportional.

Good Luck convincing anyone to do any work with that kind of policy. Lol, if I can have the same lifestyle working as a door greeter at Wal-Mart why would I want to do actual work.

Are you kidding me? Why spend money to have the government tax them so that we can spend more money to have the government give it back to them?

You do realize the wealthy are paying all those same taxes as well right? When Floyd Mayweather buys a Bugatti he is paying more in taxes in that one transaction than you likely pay in a year with all taxes combined.

The logical answer is a flat tax if people are truly interested in fairness and everyone being treated equally under the law.

What could possibly go wrong with a business man running a criminal justice system or a military? ;)

Full disclosure im a proponent of moving to a consumption tax but if we go to a flat tax i think everyone should pay the same amount.

If after they paid their share share of the governments required tribute they can then go ask the government to give them however many crumbs they see fit to give.

Don't they already? Most of the policy that is put into place isn't for the betterment of this country. In almost every case it is nothing more than businesses and special interest groups paying off politicians to push the legislation they want.

Better a businessman than a politician.

A consumption or sales tax is not a bad idea so long as rent, grocery, labor and used items are exempt.

How, exactly, would leaving the elected officials and taxation out help matters? Would the military run on plunder alone or would they make and sell cookies on the side?

Is there a difference? You are essentially just cutting out the middle man.

A businessman sells products. Whether good or bad, he must deliver that product to get your money.

A politician sells promises. He doesn't have to deliver anything, because he's already got your money.

The wealthy elite gave us infinity war, the least they could do is pay for it.

really? so all the rich were for it? I call BS on that

I'm a true flat tax advocate. That means the same percentage for all. If a middle income person pays X%, a rich person pays the same X%. Period. No deductions, no credits. That's as fair as it gets. The rich person will pay proportionally much more in raw dollars as a result, without being punished.

and pimps in office cannot pander to the many by merely paying for the handouts by raising only the top rates

that would be grounds for revolution in my book.

Buy a gun and join the militia. Same effect, virtually zero cost.

Some have proposed a universal rebate to refund taxes paid for the essentials

I already have some guns so you start a militia business and I might respond to your help wanted ad if the pay and benefits are good. ;)

That sounds like the "fair tax" and unnecessary added complexity. I'm doing OK here in Texas as it is.
