Robert Mugabe on Trump: ''Are we having a return of Goliath to our midst?

Merely seizing wealth - like working farms or ranches - & expecting them to automatically generate further wealth (without any labor or capital inputs) is essentially the same as Soviet forces stealing faucets & light switches from Germany in WWII, & getting upset when the faucets et al. fail to produce back in the Great Rodina. In this case, the Soviets didn't even seize the right objects - but no matter. I don't think anyone can really classify Mugabe as a Progressive with a straight face.

I don't know enough about Zimbabwe's history nor Mugabe himself. Except to say that his policies seem to have driven off the managerial & technical people - whether British or Asiatic or from India or what-have-you - that might have made possible a smoother economic transition to Zimbabwean ownership & management. That kind of mistake is often fatal to the nation - we'll have to wait a decade or so to see about Zimbabwe, once Mugabe is safely out of the way. Yah, Mugabe may think of the colonial powers as white devils - I don't know one way or the other. But making that kind of statement on the record can't be helpful in persuading managers & farmers & other technical people to stay & feel comfortable about staying in country.
Nope. That's the Sean Hannity version of it. It's roughly as accurate as the Michael Moore version of conservatism
Theres nothing to really debate, he is a hard left progressive who spouted off at the mouth about trump. Big whoop.

Heart of darkness?

Maybe you are unaware of this, but it was people trying to get rich that made America the greatest and richest nation in the history of the planet. Do you want me to let you in on a little secret as to what will make the African continent rich? Or are you starting to figure that out now all by yourself?

Nah, that can't be it. The Europeans who flooded into Canada & Mexico & Central & South America & the Caribbean also wanted to get rich. & some of them did - the Conquistadores & sugar plantation & silver & gold extraction outfits & pelts & feathers outfits made piles of money, & often returned to the metropolis & lived large. (That only accounts for a trifling percentage of all the armies of hungry & ambitious, of course. But that's a different conversation.)

The main difference between Canada & the US, & the rest of the Americas - is that those two managed to establish a framework to keep ambition within reasonable bounds (& sometimes not reasonable, but on the whole, on balance ...) @ the very least, the US managed to avoid Civil War, except for the one, & Canada, TMK, never did fight a civil war - unless you count the Revolutionary Wary incursions by the US into Canada.

So it wasn't just the striving - it was a judicial system that respected property rights, in general - short shrift for the Native Peoples & indentured servants & slaves & women, of course, for whom justice & law were rare commodities. Still, we didn't destroy the natural resources altogether in one fell swoop. & our form of government allows for slow evolution - although it's painful & hesitant, often enough.

Africa is relatively poor @ least partly because of the Africa Rush - when the colonial European powers swooped down upon Africa & carved it up into zones of influence, colonies, commodity sources. There have been civilizations in Africa - but they mostly weren't able to fend off the Europeans. Perhaps in future, except that now they have to fend off the Chinese - a much tougher proposition.

Yes, you need a proper legal framework that protects individual rights as well

What makes you think he did not say exactly what he was scripted to say about the murderous proprietor of concentration camps?

What makes you think that this should not have been said previously and often by Trump's predecessors?

Odd questions.

I'm sure his communications team scripted it. That doesn't make it wrong.

It should have, and may have been said before. I'm not really in the mood to look it up.

Rapacious plundering of natural resources hasn't worked out too well for Africa so far buddy.

So you agree with him.

Why do you think that he displayed a lack of control by voicing thoughts with which you agree?

It's not what he said, it's how he says it. Calling Kim Jong In names is not at all constructive in this situation.

Literally my point. You bolded words you believe identifies progressivism, but it's the right-wing idiot's version of progressivism.

I ask outright: Would Michael Moore accurately describe your beliefs?

What is the criteria one must meet to be a progressive

I'm pretty sure the name that Trump and other world leaders prefer is available for publication in the AP Style Book.
