This is more of a general question

Why on this board in particular do I (at least seem) to see more conservatives/right leaning people in general, defending the right to free speech of White Nationalists, complaining about Google, Facebook and Amazon removing white nationalist (and other hate groups) from their websites. Google no longer including their websites as search results, Facebook removing their pages, and Amazon not letting them raise money on its system. They are private companies, not government owned or operated, yet I see people on this board stating Google is violating White Nationalists rights, that the government needs to regulate them.

Yet when it comes to Colin Kaepernick, whose entire protest was not standing up during the national anthem gets nothing but hate from generally the same people. He has not found a job as a QB in the NFL, yet by all accounts would be at the very least a good second string QB and did have some good seasons as a starting QB.

If the White Nationalist freedom of speech is being violated by Google, is not Colin's being violated by the NFL. If Google is to be regulated by the federal government regarding free speech should not the NFL.

I truly do not understand why people would rather defend White Nationalists and their message "Jews will Not Replace Us" over Colin's message of supporting BLM by not standing during the National Anthem

I will use Hawkey's phrase now

We used to be better then this. To which my question is when

Thought it would be obvious. Those defending White Nationalists right for free speech but not that of Colins... are either White Nationalists, Neo Nazis or sympathise with their views.

The NFL as a company has not banned Colin. Any team that has a roster spot can still sign him if they come to a mutual deal. One problem is Colin is asking for too much money verse the controversy he brings. If he lowers his asking salary of if a team gets in a pinch and are willing to pay he will get a spot on a team. There is no ban.

Here is the difference Google the company chose to crack down on speech it disagrees with. (private company their right) They actually do have a ban in place.

Ideologically I say Google is wrong because open and free speech should always be promoted. As a real life person I can understand the logic in banning speech that could cost you business

I'll tell you right now...people in general don't want politics and their sports mixed. Bottom line.

As far as the supposed White Nationalists, their numbers are too tiny to worry about.

Would you be ok with those companies blackballing someone you agree with?

How many Conservatives on here have said that Kaepernic should be denied his right to free speech?

Example? I dont remember seeing many conservatives pushing for the govt to force private companies to allow all speech. Im sure a few have, but can you say this is in any way representatives of the conservative rank and file? I think that would be a stretch. Now, complaining about the hypocrasy of those companies, sure thing. While censoring speech themselves. Sure thing. Conservatives are just as hypocritical as liberals and everyone on this forum.

If Amazon did not want to carry something I liked I would not care. If Google did not link to something I liked I would not care.

Do you care if the NFL blackballed Kaepernic?

Only slightly as he is a good QB,

He made his choice, the various NFL teams have made theirs. The government was not involved in any way. Also a protest(or support) is meaningless if a cost is not included

I always find the "we are not scared" tweets or tweets of support for this cause or that cause to be meaningless drivel

Good. Perhaps you can name the individual who is claiming Kaepernik has no right to free speech.

Thanks for admitting to a double standard. Kudos!

Let me ask you this: do you oppose the oppression of free speech?

Or the the irony of supporting a bakery not wanting to cater a gay wedding....but oh muh gawd, Google and Facebook discriminating against white nationalists are violating their liberteh!

Actually, there is quite a difference in those situations. Can you spot it?
The baker was discriminated by government, you see. Google and Facebook are private entities. This does not mean I condone it. But it is quite a bit worse that the state break the constitution than a private entity dubiously exorcising its.

So, I have to ask, you're in favor of any business denying any service for pretty much any reason?

I never said, one way, or the other.

Me neither.

I'm torn. I feel like a religious business owner shouldn't be forced to cater an event, or do something, that violates the tenants of their faith.

At the same time, however, if you open that door, you run into crap like what Google is doing, or businesses that discriminate on race, or sex.

It is because right wingers do not really believe in free speech. At least, not for everyone - just themselves and people they support (ex Nazis, KKK, etc)

For the most part my answer here is yes. I stay away from absolute terms like any but generally speaking private citizens should be legally protected to be bigots.
