The dean of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government has announced that the school has withdrawn its invitation to convicted WikiLeaks leaker Chelsea Manning to serve as a visiting fellow.

Douglas W. Elmendorf stressed that Manning was invited to talk with students and then host a forum where she would be asked “hard questions” about her story. He said the school never had any intention to honor her or endorse “any of her words or deeds.”
“I apologize to her and to the many concerned people from whom I have heard ... for not recognizing upfront the full implications of our original invitation,” he wrote.
Slimebag shouldn't find a home anywhere.

Visiting Fellow isn't exactly a home- you do know what visiting means right?

All anger aside it is difficult to see how she rates a fellowship. Doesn't mean much to most, I guess just a few who just like being angry... :peace

From CBS:

Michael Morell, former deputy director and acting director of the CIA, is stepping down as a senior fellow at Harvard University after the school extended a fellowship to Chelsea Manning, the soldier convicted of leaking classified information to Wikileaks.

Morell, a CBS News senior national security contributor, wrote in a letter to Doug Elmendorf, dean of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, that he can't remain at an organization "that honors a convicted felon and leaker of classified information, Ms. Chelsea Manning." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/michael-morell-ex-cia-chief-resigns-harvard-post-over-chelsea-manning/

I wonder if Morell will now reconsider.

Visiting fellow? She doesn't merit that. Giving a talk and answering questions? Sure.

He should have already been executed; still in prison for life, at least.

An excellent demonstration of CIA influence in universities, especially the Ivy League schools, from which they have been recruiting ever since.

One thing that would justify his talking at Kennedy School would be for students to get a look at the way a traitor ticks.

Or she could give valuable insight on what drives someone who set out to do their patriotic duty (so few who judge have) to expose scandal behind the cover story and face the consequences of her actions... :peace

S/he betrayed her/his patriotic duty.

Another fissure in the GOP between Amash/Rand Paul libertarians and Warhawks ...

Country before party.

Since the GOP put party over nation the 8 Obama years as a disloyal opposition only concerned in becoming the majority;

The GOP deserves every divide it has on every issue as a party, including this one between libertarians and Conservatives ...

Your irrational hate is noted.

Your view of the GOP may or may not reflect the facts, but it's beside the point in this thread.

The divisions within the GOP on Manning are most appropriate to discuss in the thread ...

agree that it would allow the students to differentiate between one's engaging in activities intended to damage our nation compared to activities taken as a whistleblower to aid our nation

i remember similar contrasting opinions about the publishing of the Pentagon Papers, which many believed advanced our nation's exit from the vietnam war while others viewed that publisher as treasonous

You mean, you think she should have been be shot?

Bit of a drama queen ya got going there duntcha think? So you think past presidents messed up by not shooting Pollard, Walker, Miller, Hanssen, Lee, White....

there is a rather long list... and you mean she COULD have been shot... :peace

Kinda like the treatment that most other traitors receive? The 'non-transgendered' ones?
