St. Louis prepares for verdict in trial tomorrow

I thought I saw someone mention this is going to be a bench trial. That pretty much guarantees that there is going to be a not guilty. As much as the average juror has a hard-on for allowing cops to get away with murder, judges are pretty much committed to ensuring the status quo of cops doing these sorts of things because they have a vested interests in supporting police.

From ignoring evidence...

To using twisted tortured logic...

There's pretty much no way a judge in a bench trial is going to allow a cop to be convicted.

Then there's something very wrong with that isn't there if he's guilty of the allegations being put forward.

Yes, I saw that you said "they won't riot". I'm asking WHY you think they won't riot.

I'll ask you why you think they will riot ...

What we do know is that the situation was so corrupt that Internal Affairs had to release information to the FBI because the local cops were too dirty to move on the information. What we do know is that all the evidence was available but it wasn't sufficiently reviewed until the civil case showed how criminal the entire affair was. Usually it's the other way around. The criminal trial is first and then the civil trial is second.

I approve of your straight-up informative post, reinoe. :applaud

St Louis should be an automatic "Hell No!" from Amazon....the culture here is terrible...Detroit Bad.

So called religious folk threatening JUDGES...

OH HELL NO!

Yeah, probably if there's a not guilty verdict. What do you think?

I think some Americans, not you of course, are hoping for a riot to stoke racial tensions as an election cudgel ...

But do you think riots will happen if it's a not guilty verdict?

St. Louis is a wonderful city from my dozens of visits there ...

I see your posting has gone from PROTESTS in your OP to riots now !

Um ---- what?

Phys was the one who changed the conversation to rioting. I'm simply asking you if you think they will happen if it's a not guilty verdict.

Reading all the details from several sources its hard not to see this as a case where the shooting of this guy was justified...right up until the part where the cop is alleged to have planted a gun. Shooting him...even if he was unarmed...justified IMO. Planting a gun on him? That indicates premeditation...worthy of a guilty verdict. I think the judge will rule against the cop.

That doesnt guarantee there wont be rioting.

I don't support violent protests. I don't support anyone going there to try and use the incident for violence and destruction.

What I can say is that if it was a friend or member of my family involved, I was privy to the full details of this case, and I believed, based on those details, that justice had not been served, I wouldn't stay silent and I would become the worst nightmare to those responsible for the decision.

And I'm simply telling you I have no interest in talking about hypothetical riots ...

I'm not going anywhere, Josie, as long as folks are preemptively talking about whether rioting will occur ...

It is a dysfunctional demoralized all too violent city, on the way down.....already down.....following Detroit.

They thought they might be turning into something when the Rams came to town but we all know how that turned out, and they are going to be paying bills for that (REAL MONEY) for years.

Ever been in the area from the Arch to the Scottrade Center. Been to new Busch yet?? How about their universities??? Do you think GOPs have it in for cities because of the way they vote ????

the pig murdered a citizen & planted a 'throw down' weapon that via the weapon serial number demonstrated the weapon to be his own gun

Last time I was there was 1974.....looked at the derelict Union Station.....really creepy it was, and ate flapjacks at a Sambos.

Notwithstanding that I am right.

It's a bench trial, the officer waived his right to a jury.

That adds a whole different aspect. It really depends on how and what evidence was presented in court verses what the papers reported and we take as common knowledge.

Imo we will see not guilty

if that occurs I would think the judge may want to lay low for some time; just sayin' ..................

I already posted this worthless ****ing pig in my POLICE VIDEO OF THE DAY thread ..................... go look ................
