Amnesty Don Ticks off Base

Personally, I don't think Trump did anything outrageous or unexpected...except, maybe, by slapping the GOP Elites upside the head and making them cry. After all, he never said anything against the Dreamers. He has always been on their side. If anyone thinks he ever wasn't, they are dumbasses.

All this business about him walking back on the wall is baseless.

My guess is Trump's "base" isn't upset at all.

IL-4 has among the worst voter turnouts term after term. Pushing 150,000 less votes than the average CD. Helped cost Gov. Quinn in 2014. Similar to Hispanic CDs in TX and AZ.

Hispanic Caucus members were lukewarm to defend him today on his Kelly remarks. On the flip side, Lupinski is a major PITA pissing off liberals and progress--ives, at times seemingly on purpose ...
[Long]

Dan Lipinski is Bill Lipinski's kid.

For all the talk of the Daley's Bridgeport 11th ward, Madigan's 13th, and Eddie Burke's Canaryville 14th, Bill Lipinski's 23rd was right up there as among the very tightest in the city, where they all lie along a several mile strip of South Archer Ave. One cohesive, intertwined and geographically attached quadrumvirate of wards, that controlled and dominated much of city politics for over half a century. Only Mell's 33rd on the Northside could attempt to even try to lay any claim to similar gravitas, but his always was a distinct and distant second, even with his son-in-law Blagojevich.

Back in the day, the 23rd was one of the most solid impenetrable voting blocs in the city. And that can be seen in it's succession from Lipinski, to Krystyniak, to Laski, to Zalewski. It's been one continuous dynasty, run by Bill. That organization has populated the senior ranks of city and county government for 6 decades, to say nothing of it's work in placing members in Washington.

And they are old school smart, in the quiet low-key way they go about their business. They had to be humble, as the ward was a high majority of frugal hard working Poles, often either immigrants or just one or two generations in. And that's why this Polish ward, like Madigan's adjoining Irish 13th, and Daley's Irish & Italian 11th, all comprised of immigrant or 1st and 2nd gen Americans, were the most conservative Dems in this all Dem city. Sensible, pragmatic, and practical. Old European Catholic, and socially conservative.

A lot of jobs came out of that office, and a lot of favors were granted. Too many, in that they took a direct hit from the feds with the Hired Truck Scandal in the mid 00's, which ended with the imprisonment of Jim Laski among many others. They also were not immune to the federal Greylord probe indictments the '80's, their having placed a lot of judges on the bench over time, as judges were where the action was at the ward level. But they survived. And they are the last remnants of the Machine that's long gone. But they once were there in the very thick of it.

Rep. Steve King of Iowa is upset and that's Trump's base, so the base is divided.

King has a very good challenger in an election next year where Trump voters may stay home, or even vote for good DEMs in CDs like those of Pau Ryan ...

 It was clean.

No it wasn't calamity, a temporary raise to the debt ceiling and supplemental funding of government through mid-Dec. was tacked on.

That is clean. Sheesh

If he works with the Centrist D and moderate R, I certainly will support that. I'm 100% behind that infrastructure spending bill. And, it would never pass with the Freedom Idiots calling the shots. Hell, those jerks wouldn't even clear the money to rebuild Houston.

So is this thread about praising Trump or bashing Breitbart?

It is hard to tell anymore.

And all that voted for it.

Since that's all DEMs were allowed to vote on by your GOP leaders Ryan and McConnell, a NON Stand-Alone Harvey relief bill opposed by 17 GOP Senators, 90 GOP House members and ZERO DEMs overall ...

It's about both, praising Donald for working with Chuck and Nancy since Paul and Mitch only know obstruction, and bashing Breitbart for stabbing Donald in the back ...

Maybe, it's obvious you won't. LOL

I did. I said the bill was clean. They committed money for the H-relief and increased their line of credit to do it. That's as clean as it gets.

It was the combo of three legislative acts, all of which should have been considered as clean/stand alone pieces.

I think the argument that you two are having is exactly the argument that Trump and the American public have zero interest in

IMO, hanger4 is making much noise about nothing. No bills pass congress without something attached to them, usually something totally unrelated to the original bill. This bill was actually clean compared to most because it was 100% funding related.

Cool, now it's just 'comparatively' clean. I'm done
LOL
