Trump says rich might pay more in taxes, talks with Democrats

Oh look. More liberal policies from the con artist in chief:

Trump says rich might pay more in taxes, talks with Democrats | Reuters

are you tired of winning yet?

Are you surprised? Is this unexpected? Is this news to you? If so, then I have to judge you woefully uninformed. You see, Trump...way back in 2015...told us the rich would have to pay more under his tax reform plan. Maybe you never read it?

His campaign website is pretty much gone, but you can see what he told everyone by using the "wayback machine". Here's the link to his tax reform page:

https://web.archive.org/web/20151215065548/https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/tax-reform

Besides his full tax reform proposal, here is what Trump had to say about this thread's topic:

The Trump tax cuts are fully paid for by:

Reducing or eliminating most deductions and loopholes available to the very rich.

A one-time deemed repatriation of corporate cash held overseas at a significantly discounted 10% tax rate, followed by an end to the deferral of taxes on corporate income earned abroad.

Reducing or eliminating corporate loopholes that cater to special interests, as well as deductions made unnecessary or redundant by the new lower tax rate on corporations and business income. We will also phase in a reasonable cap on the deductibility of business interest expenses.

So yeah...if you reduce or eliminate most deductions and loopholes for the rich, even if you reduce their tax rate...they will likely end up paying more.

Wow 2015. How many times have Trump changed his position since then? Good to see Trumpsters like you still fall in line though.

He hasn't changed this position at all...as that article you presented attests.

But negotiations are ongoing. Hopefully, a deal will be achieved. And sure...it might not look exactly like Trump's 2015 campaign proposal.

Me? I'll be extremely happy if he gets both parties together to pass SOMETHING. That'll be more than we've seen from the government in decades.

You better look back into it then. Because he changed his position like at the very least five times.
1. cut taxes for everyone (includes the rich)
2. lower business tax rate (defacto the rich)
3. repeal AMT (the rich)
4. eliminate carried interest loophole
5. eliminate estate tax (the rich)

???

What changed? Besides the fact that every issue listed is either not rated or in the works (except that stupid "reveal his tax return" thing) every issue listed is part of his proposal.

Oh...maybe Mach's shiny little "rich" comments...not part of Politifact's page...caught your eye. Is that what happened?

While I can't agree with that (bolded above) assertion, after all this is Trump we are talking about, his basic idea was to simplify the tax code (getting rid of many special interest perks) and to give corporations (large or small) a tax break to be better able to compete globally.

Congress critters derive much of their power to solicit campaign cash (accept bribes?) based on being able to tweak the federal income tax code to favor certain folks. It will be very interesting to see what congress critters actually do by being given the opportunity (mandate?) to further play with (modify?) the federal income tax laws.

IMHO, the biggest flaw in the federal income tax (FIT) code is that much (80%?) of it has to do with how, and upon who, that "income from all sources" was later spent. The 16A is quite simple yet what congress critters have turned it into over the decades is far from it. The use of the FIT code as a social engineering mandate should cease and its mission should revert to the original intent of the 16A - to simply raise revenue to support federal spending.

Yeah --- this isn't surprising at all. Never Trumpers saw through him from the beginning.

Do you have a quote for that?

???

A quote?

Dude...I gave you the link to his tax reform proposal. Read it. Everything Politifact mentions is in his proposal.

Jeezuz!!

Well, I don't know what you think "Never Trumpers" saw from the beginning, but the NeverTrumper who started this thread didn't even know this stuff.

He is a Hillary campaign donor. So this is no surprise. I just wonder if the democrats will ever own him when he switches sides politically? Lol.

LOL!!

Believe me...the Democrats will oppose Trump's tax reform just as much as the Republicans. Both Parties are beholden to big-money and their lobbyists.

Trump is playing one Party against the other...and he just might get the American people something useful out of them.

I doubt. Trump is in it for himself. Classic narcissist. And I don't think he is smart enough to help the American people.

Well...you are certainly welcome to your perceptions, but his actions tell a different story.

Someone call Joe The Plumber. Trump is officially a socialist wealth redistributor like Obama.

I applaud Trump if does this. But will he be called a socialist like Obama or are conservatives hypocrites?

I really don't have time to read his proposal. You were the one that made the claim that everything I quoted was in it. It's up to you to prove your point.

Forget it.

It's a short page of text. Take you five minutes to read if you're a slow reader. Maybe a half hour to comprehend if you are slow in that respect.

I gave you the link. That's all you are going to get.
