President Trump and top Democratic leaders late Wednesday agreed to work out an agreement that would protect the nation’s “dreamers” from deportation and enact border security measures that don’t include building a physical wall, according to people familiar with the meeting.

The president discussed the deal during a dinner at the White House with Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). The meal included Chinese food and chocolate pie.

In a statement, the White House described the meeting as “constructive” and that it focused on “tax reform, border security, DACA, infrastructure and trade.”

“The Administration looks forward to continuing these conversations with leadership on both sides of the aisle,” the statement added.

But aides familiar with the exchange said that Trump and the party leaders agreed to move quickly on legislation to protect the roughly 690,000 people protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program that is set to expire in June.

Congratulations dirt farmers, you elected a democrat.

"The Wall" seemingly off the table and protecting the Dreamers is a good thing. Chinese and chocolate pie sounds good too!

This is a bit of a betrayal.

I don't really feel like I'm getting the whole story here. Such as, for example, what the Democrats ceded in getting this deal.

I take it that you disagree with the make Trump a demorat again idea? ;)

Trump wants to win and he said so (at least a few times) in every rally he held. Trump can't win (get legislative victories) with republicant congress critters alone - how he figured this out is not much of a mystery. The demorat congress critters are much more apt to vote in unison so Trump just needs a few republicants to join him in a "bipartisan compromise" (the preferred term for RINOs doing exactly what the demorats want).

Let the swamp critters write the bills stamp them "bipartisan approved" and spend, spend, spend! Deficits don't matter anymore (as if they ever did in DC).

Dems shouldn't get excited yet. The WH has already announced that it has been "falsely reported" that the wall would be excluded from border security measures.

We all should know that the minute Trump says "A", a press release with hit the airways within 5 minutes insisting that it has been "falsely reported that Trump said 'A'."

And the beat goes on, lol.

Well considering he gave them everything w/the debt ceiling. I don't think they conceded much of anything. The Democrats are the good guys to Trump now. He's calling it bipartisanship, when we all know he isn't working w/the republicans at all! Notice he never really has attacked any Congressional Democrats.

He also knows his base won't really look into what he is doing with the Democrats. As long as the new love child, Sarah Huckabee tells them it's OK, they'll believe it. That's what 2.5 years of brainwashing does.

I seem to recall that excuse before, and nothing ever came of it. Trump has also dropped Repeal and Replace Obamamcare, just "Make it better," and Republicans know what that means to liberals. If Bernie Sanders can get his bill through the Congress and argues it well, I don't see Trump vetoing it.

If you or anyone took the time to look at Trump's lifelong political views, they were pretty liberal. Of course he change a few to run as a Republican. Then the question became, would Trump revert back to his lifelong held political views or stay with his newly formed conservative views. Perhaps we're seeing the answer come to the fore.

I still find it very strange that one of the major parties would nominate a eight time party switcher. Very strange indeed.

Until 1987 Trump was a Democrat
From 1987-1999 he was a Republican
In 1999 Trump became an Independent
2000 to 2001 Trump was a member of the Reform Party
2001 to 2009 he was a Democrat again
2009 to 2011 he became a Republican
2011 to 2012 Trump was a registered Independent
2012 to present he became a Republican again.

Perhaps the man like all those switches really doesn't have any hard core or sustained political views.

As long as he gets additional funding for border security (wall or no wall) he can claim a victory and the trumpeters here will come in and sing "he never meant a physical wall in the first place."

Winning!

Lawrence has been a riot the last few minutes, wondering if Trump will back up Huckabee sanders or keep his word to Chuck and Nancy.

Meanwhile, Paul Ryan hates the filibuster, after loving it during Obama ...

Bernie's bill will never get through congress at this time. I know it. You know it. Bernie knows it. Congress knows it. But IF it did, sure, Trump would sign it, then take sole credit for it the rest of his life!

The President has chosen to work with Chuck and Nancy because he can't stand Paul and Mitch, not to mention the GOP do-nothing Congress that has stalemated Trump's 'conservative' agenda ...

Breitbart slams "Amnesty Don" ... :lamo

Agree with this 100%. The whole campaign I would listen to him talk then go to Donald Trump on the Issues and think to myself "They know he's not a republican right?"

If not 2018 cycle, then I give it no more than a decade. Depending on outcomes of national elections and political scandals of course. Lots of big name backers are piling on. Dems will probably win the majority back in 2018 and that's what Chuck and Nancy are aiming/fighting for right now. They want to play nice with Trump, get on his good side, don't piss him off. Let him win some. Ignore immigration, and then stick to him when the GOP is so alienated and small he has to sign whatever they push in front of his face. And he'll like it!

Breitbart headline: "Amnesty Don."

Steve doesn't seem happy. LOLZ

I don't think there's a shot in hell the dems win the senate in 2018. They have to defend too many seats.
