Serious question. Would libertarians tell all of the people stuck on the roofs to pull themselves up by their bootstraps?

And how many rich libertarians want the government to pay their hurricane insurance?

Why would anyone in their right mind want the government to pay for any kind of disaster insurance? That's the responsibility of the people who live there, not the government.

Libertarian Justin Amash was one of three GOPs to vote against Harvey aid, along with Massie and Biggs. Zero DEMs ...

I pay my own insurance premiums; health, dental, home owners, autos, everthing ............ that's a lot of CASHOLA down the drain if I never have to file a claim

I calculate my risks & I budget accordingly

life is all about risk assessment & living with your decisions ........ and some times Liberty cost a lot .............

I certainly would. For example: If you choose to live somewhere where there is a high risk of flooding, and your property gets destroyed by a flood, then that's your responsibility, and your fault. It was YOUR choice to live there.

So there would be no federal aid programs to cover natural disasters, acts of GOD, or whatever you want call it? All l regions have some risk of natural disasters.

And that's how it should be. People need to gauge their own risk tolerance and act accordingly. It isn't the government's job to come save you. I have no problem with them showing up with emergency supplies to guarantee people have food and clean water and a place to sleep in the days immediately following a disaster. I have no problem with them showing up with doctors to help the injured. I do have a problem with the government rebuilding people's houses for free.

Hurricane insurance?

As in paying money to people who didn't buy insurance and lost their home? I support a robust safety net. I support emergency relief. I think simply paying a bunch of money to everyone in a disaster is going too far.

There has to be a line between "let 'em die" and "give everyone everything no matter what".

I do too. It should never happen. The government is not responsible for decisions that individuals make, whether they're big individuals or small. I have no problem with them helping out. I have a big problem with them doing things that people need to be personally responsible for.
