That said, there IS quite a trade imbalance between our two countries. Now...it takes two to make a deal. They have something we want...and we have something they want. We want their manufactured goods and they want our market. We also want them to open their market to us so the imbalance is reduced. That's what deals and negotiations are all about...coming to mutual agreements based on wants.

The fact that we are committed to their protection against NK does not preclude attempts to deal with that imbalance. When the Trump administration starts holding our protection over their heads in the negotiation, THEN you can start hyperventilating and spouting hyperbole. Not before.

There is a trade deficit with Canada, but that is due to oil and energy products, would you want to there to be less energy from Canada to try and reduce a 11 billion dollar deficit in 600 billion dollar trading relationship?

Same deal with SK, one shouldn't assume anything negative about that deficit, it could be blameless on SK's part.
