Trump's $1M Harvey donation Pledge: Fact of Fiction"

Show me the proof that Trump scratched a check for a million dollars of his own money to a charitable organization associated with Harvey that is not one of his own. Go ahead. I challenge you.

PS: Fix your post.

It's not me. It's the site having a hiccup. Maybe if it holds it's breath for a minute or two...

Moving the goal post now? Trump pledge a million dollars to Harvey victims. Prove that he didn't.

Greetings, humbolt. :2wave:

:agree: And how will we know that any others, mainly celebrities who seem to be competing with their peers via the old "one-upmanship" game, are going to actually follow through on their pledges? Answer: we don't!

As a matter of interest, have Obama, Clinton, and the two Bushes that were POTUS made their pledges yet? I haven't heard....

Trump did pledge a million dollars. Everyone acknowledges that. Pledging is not the same as actually giving the money.

I know. He's probably out in DuPont Circle shaking people down for what he can get right now.

Fact: he made the pledge.
Fiction: he intends on giving real money to actual victims.

I love the former ethics chief's take.

What the hell?? So now you think you have the right to judge which pocket it comes out of?? What is the MATTER with people?

Did Facebook prove it? Did Google prove it? Did Leonardo DiCaprio prove it? Money is money. Which pocket he gets it out of is nobody's business!

I expect he'll follow through. In spite of all the characterizations, he's no fool. I know he's lied. So did Obama. If Trump lied as much as the media has, I'd be concerned.

lol, Skip already did. See post 21.

Why do you support a liar and thief?

Lol, indeed. You'll have to do better than Think Progress. Besides, that link isn't working for me. Maybe my computer likes unbiased sources not populated by raving lunatics.

Don't be silly. There's no way to prove what the future will be. We can only predict, based on what we know of past events. I can pledge to swim the English Channel, but if you know that I'm a very poor swimmer, you can predict that I won't do it, but you can't prove it.

I can predict, but I won't be correct until you actually try or demur. You're condemning Trump before you know what he's going to do. Now, you could be correct, but you won't know that until Trump actually does something or refuses. I don't care what account Trump uses as long as it's money that belongs to him or he controls - so a charity he runs is fine with me. I'm concerned about the people of Houston and environs, and not cheap political points.

That's OK. We all know you'll defend the liar and thief until the bitter end. Good luck with that.

Nope. You don't know that either. You've posted a bunch of speculation and presented it as the truth. That much is obvious, and you're claiming Trump is a liar. He might be, but you're in no position to claim it.

Not which pocket, whether the pocket is his, as was promised, or other peoples' pockets instead/as usual for Trump.

If it comes out of his personalmchecking account, his charity or his business, there's no difference. HE is donating the money.

He's a liar and a thief. And, yes. There is a mountain of evidence for both. But, you might have to actually open a link you don't like to see it.

Not true. If it comes out of his charity, other people are donating the money through him. If it comes out of his business, whoever is invested in his businesses with him is donating the money along with him. Only if it comes out of his own personal funds will it truly be Trump making the donation by himself.

Do you honestly not know that?

We all know he pledged it. We also all know (or should) that he isn't going to donate it.

Why do you support a liar and thief?

No we all don't know that.

I didn't support a liar and thief. I didn't vote for her.

First of all, let me set the record straight about money coming out of his business. If you'd ever owned a business, you would know that anyone who DOES own a business would be a FOOL to donate personally. When you own a business, you ALWAYS donate with pretax dollars. ALWAYS.

Let me ask you this, if Bill Gates' foundation donated a million dollars and Gates'publicist announced it... or the foundation announced it... would you say, "Cheapskate! It wasn't Bill Gates' money..." ??

If you think that Trump is the biggest problem we face, you have your head in a nasty place. I've read plenty of crappy things about Trump. I'm no babe in the woods, and I'm no fervent Trump supporter, either. I just know BS when I see it. There are whole mountain ranges of evidence that the Clintons are huge crooks and liars, and plenty of evidence Obama lied out of his ass as well. If you're gonna get incensed by this ****, spare me the one-sided approach. Pelosi is virtually out of her gourd, Bernie's wife is up for bank fraud, congressmen and Senators are grabbing people's asses, and you claim Trump is corrupt? He may well be, but he's in the right crowd if he is.

Bill Gates put up the money to fund his foundation. Trump hasn't put anything into his for almost ten years, but regularly pays out from it like an expense account.

You are blinded by your partisanship. Just say, "Thank you," like the people of Texas will.

Well, I can agree with that. I didn't vote for crooked Hillary and new Bernie was full of **** too when he played the "people's candidate" role. IMO, Pelosi is why the D lost well over a hundred seats in the House since 2009, and Obama just received his pay-off for freeing bankers, a $50M book deal.

Correction: $60M book deal.

:agree: Since he has been donating his POTUS salary to charity since he took office - and that's been verified - why worry about his current pledge? Personally, I don't think it matters much where the money comes from since it all belongs to him in one way or another anyway, no matter what pocket it comes out of, and that is no ones business except his tax accountant and attorney, IMO! As a matter of fact, he could donate his salary for this month and October, and meet his pledge to help the victims of hurricane Harvey if he chooses, because it's his money!

Trump isn't a career politician that polished a BS resume explicitly to run for office. Yes, he's an unpolished buffoon at times, and many wish he'd present a more reserved and circumspect image. At 70, after a lifetime in construction development, it's unrealistic to expect he's going to change much. From my perspective, it's far better to focus on the positive things he may be able to achieve if the Congress would quit stepping on their dicks and get busy about the country's business. I don't expect him to be a saint. Nobody else up there is, and that's the standard we've regrettably come to accept, apparently.

Much of that depends on what all he did wrong. So far, it's not looking good. To say the least.
