The FBI has denied access to files on Hillary Clinton’s email scandal and her astonishing violations of national security on the grounds that the public is not interested in it. This is an odd state of affairs since the stated mission of the FBI is to uphold the US Constitution and protect the people from domestic threats to our survival as a free republic.

Since we don’t have royalty in this country and the purpose of the FBI is not to mirror the behavior of the Soviet KGB or the secret police in other countries, most believe the purpose of the FBI is to ensure that no one is above the law. The secret police in other parts of the world function to protect the status quo which is what the FBI appears to be doing in the Clinton case.

So apparently an agency whose mission is to investigate domestic threats has decided not to release its files on Hillary Clinton’s treasonous, self-serving, cavalier misuse of cyber technology and the conscious, willful cover-up and destruction of evidence by her and her lawyers because they have decided it doesn’t serve the public interest.

The bizarre behavior of FBI director James Comey during the last presidential election has some people beginning to wonder if it’s time to close the books on the FBI and supplant it with a new agency less infiltrated and contaminated with politics.

The people have all the respect in the world for the rank and file of the FBI who readily put themselves in harm’s way often under a hail of bullets but the FBI’s leadership appears to have been corrupted by powerful people in high places and its credibility has come under a dangerous cloud.

The nefarious history of both the Clintons and their odious quid-pro-quo foundation make Bernie Madoff look like a Boy Scout. The damage done to US national security is immeasurable but the FBI has swung into action to protect the culprits from the public not the other way around.

It should not be the purview of the FBI to decide that some people are just too popular and too powerful to be investigated and prosecuted. Hillary Clinton’s excuse that it shouldn’t count because it’s me is unacceptable. The term “untouchables” appears to apply to the Clintons and their treasure.

The FBI should do its job or we should replace it.

Apparently you didn't know that he Clintons are above the law.

Always a vortex of corruption surrounding the Clintons, this time centered in the FBI. Usually its in other places, like The Clinton Foundation, the Office of the Secretary of State, or a tarmac in Phoenix.

To be sure, the Clintons have smelled dirty since they came East. But this never ending story is not being kept mum by the FBI. It was an open book for the last Administration and is for this one. Same for Senate and Congress both of which could have forced transparency and haven't. It is more like collusion than an individual agency.

You can always tell that people are spinning when they do not link to a story. Let's look at the actual story: FBI shuts down request for files on Hillary Clinton by citing lack of public interest | Fox News

Ignore the clickbait headline, since it is not actually supported by the text of the story. Now, from thatsource, we learn what the FBI actually said:

But in a letter sent this week and obtained by Fox News, the head of the FBI’s Records Management Division told Clevenger that the bureau has “determined you have not sufficiently demonstrated that the public’s interest in disclosure outweighs personal privacy interests of the subject.”

Earlier, the FBI asked Clevenger to detail the public interest:

“If you seek disclosure of any existing records on this basis, you must demonstrate that the public interest in disclosure outweighs personal privacy interests,” the letter stated. “In this regard, you must show that the public interest sought is a significant one, and that the requested information is likely to advance that interest.”

Ok, now we see in both a reference to "public interest", so you got something there, but context matters. They are not discussing how interested the public is, but using the legal phrase: http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Public+Interest

Public Interest

Anything affecting the rights, health, or finances of the public at large.

Public interest is a common concern among citizens in the management and affairs of local, state, and national government. It does not mean mere curiosity but is a broad term that refers to the body politic and the public weal. A public utility is regulated in the public interest because private individuals rely on such a company for vital services.

So what the FBI is actually saying is that the right to privacy matters by their rules, and is not in the case superseded by the public's interest in their rights, health or finance. In other words, access to the documents would not further any of those things that fall under "public interest".

Hillary Clinton was caught red-handed and lied about it. Then she destroyed evidence. Ask yourself what would happen to anyone else under investigation. Would a real investigation of the Clintons lead right back to corruption in the FBI? It certainly looks that way. Is the Bureau protecting Clinton to protect itself? Why is no one asking these questions? It's happening right before our eyes. This nation is in a lot more trouble than people realize. Is the nations top cop a dirty cop? It sure looks that way.

The same FBI run by the same Comey that leaked Trumps information to the FBI? "Privacy? Trump don't need no stinking privacy"

What year is this? Did Hillary win the election and all this Trump stuff was just a bad dream?

This was investigated. Nothing significantly criminal was found. Time to move on. But noooo...instead of being reasonable and accepting the conclusion of the FBI and the countless congressional committees, you want to get rid of the FBI?

Comey and the FBI damaged Hillary Clinton severely by announcing they were reopening HRC email investigation. Yet, still here you are complaining about Comey and the FBI. It's insane.

Anyway, let's see what the Trump investigation reveals.

Way to not respond to a single point made. Well done!

Thanks for doing the research that certain conservatives refuse to do.

It's pretty hard to conduct research when the FBI won't release the files.

I think the wooden stake has already been driven through Hillary's heart politically. She's a two time loser. Maybe she's going for three strikes, but I doubt it.

Thank you so much for your input. It is very helpful. I tweaked the piece based on your critique.

The FBI has denied access to files on Hillary Clinton’s email scandal and her astonishing violations of national security on the grounds that her privacy is not outweighed by the public interest. This is an odd state of affairs since the stated mission of the FBI is to uphold the US Constitution and protect the people from domestic threats to our survival as a free republic.

The bizarre behavior of FBI director James Comey during the last presidential election and his admitted purposeful leaking against the current president seem to be at odds with the FBI’s sudden concern with the personal privacy of a former Secretary of State who was caught red-handed violating national security protocol, lied about it and then destroyed evidence to cover up her bad acts.

The next time an average citizen is under investigation by the FBI they may want to emulate Clinton’s behavior and see how that works out. That citizen would never get the chance. The FBI would launch a surprise raid on their home and seize their computer files before they even knew what hit them.

The people have all the respect in the world for the rank and file of the FBI who readily put themselves in harm’s way often under a hail of bullets. Fidelity, bravery and integrity are alive and well among working agents.

But the Bureau’s leadership has lost its way and has allowed itself to be infiltrated and contaminated by politics. This does not bode well for the future security of our republic especially when the term “untouchables” refers not to the Bureau but to the Clintons and their treasure.

Third time lucky?

Nah. She's done. I still refuse to believe that the nation really wants to convict a former first lady anyway. Now, a Senator or a SoS might be a different story, but still, she's also Bill's wife, even if in name only.

The problem with not holding high profile figures accountable for their crimes is that rest of society sees that they are not held accountable. The response is a widespread general attitude of contempt for laws that only apply to common citizens. It's a highly contagious phenomenon that produces lawlessness for the rest of us.
