Yes ... Bad Professor ... had several of them
I was in college in the 80s and 90s ... I survived
Remember .. there are Bad People ... on BOTH SIDES :lamo
So many sides and it appears a number of different gods too
We, me and momma had three girls 2 years apart...mid to latter 70's we lived in a small oilfield town in the San Joaquin valley when the eldest went into first grade
Two years later the second daughter had the same teacher and it confirmed for us that this First Grade Teacher had to be near the top on the list of worst teachers in the state of Cali
We moved to Cayucos near Morro Bay and the third hit first grade with a teacher voted one of the best in the state...that first year the elder two struggled...ended up holding the older one back a year...the youngest was like a wiz kid in comparison in developmental ways as well as comfort/ease in most subjects.
I haven't got a clue what political affiliation either were nor do I think it had much to do with their teaching skills...doesn't really matter now, that was long ago and they all survived.
Grant you there's quite a difference between one of many college professor's and your primary educator so before you ask me what my rant has to do with your post, let me preempt with not much...just a flashback
:inandout:
To your point, in our upper education years...one would hope we had developed a bit of a bull**** filter to help maintain balance...wouldn't it be fun to take a media or current events maybe poli sci and have a different guest speaker each week...hmmmmm...Hannity..Rachael..Alex Jones..Laurence O'Donnell..Arnold Schwarzenegger..add a bit of humor and bring in Tina Fey and Sarah Palin together...no doubt many out there could come up with some interesting picks
A well rounded education isn't all bad but if a person has a problem with politics then pick your college wisely...there's certainly enough partisan choices to meet anyone's ideology if you really want to go there...but I prefer variety and we eventually find out who we are...some of my most remembered instructor's through high school and college were during my high school sophomore year in Zambia, Africa (it was a country less than a year old, formerly Northern Rhodesia under British rule...when we were getting ready to do what our chemistry teacher told us not to do...
...he'd come from behind with an old wooden ruler, the kind with the metal straight edge insert...whack, right across the knuckles and with an Afrikaans accent exclaim, "You're a bit of a nut." ...and then in analytical geometry...a Brit who didn't take crap off of
anyone...there was a cricket bat by the door with holes drilled in it to lessen the wind resistance when you were standing in the doorway holding your ankles and he applied it to your backside.
I'd imagine that sort of education would create some serious debate and a number of lawsuits in this country...not much of anything I'd trade that year for...as a freshman I was um, less than inspired you might say...my junior year back in the states I excelled in school and it came easy in any further education I pursued from then on.
I guess if I have any hope of getting back to your point, um, prolly hopeless but thanks for the memories
So, would that education inducement from those two teachers be liberal or conservative?
