Beyond ridiculous.... "Robert Lee"

The slippery slope is not always wrong. But in this case, I think it is. Whether you think confederate monuments should stay or go, there are some pretty clear lines between Washington and Jefferson compared to confederate generals and the reasons they were put up. Enough that I think the slippery slope does not hold water.

I might have agreed with you, if this very week I hadn't read articles about how X group or Y group are calling for the removal of statues for non-Confederate reasons.

The same principles that call for removing Stonewall Jackson are being used to call for the removal of non-Confederate statues, names and etc. Namely that someone is offended that the statue-ee was not PC to the level of modern sensitivity.

Well I don't think you're going to get every group to agree, but it seems to me those calling for the Teddy Roosevelt monument to go down for instance are substantially smaller in number and looked down upon even by most left wingers that have commented on them both here and in public.

We can hope rationality will prevail, I suppose.

Given the hysteria I've seen over the past few months, it seems a thin hope though.

I've been seeing tweets on this. I thought it was an Onion thing. But, no. Seems legit. And, yes. It's nuts.

Its nuts and all thanks to the left, its going to get worse!

Or, thanks to the Right, who have no made all of this Confederate crap into a huge issue, it is going to get worse.

It's so easy for a privileged white male to be outraged over this. You didn't see people who want to deny your basic rights marching en masse in Charlottesville. Your ancestors weren't slaves or victims of Jim Crow. After all the trauma that has befallen African-Americans, we need to do as much as we can to ensure that they feel welcome. Have a little bit of empathy. SMH.

what if he was called Robert Hitler?
