The slippery slope is not always wrong. But in this case, I think it is. Whether you think confederate monuments should stay or go, there are some pretty clear lines between Washington and Jefferson compared to confederate generals and the reasons they were put up. Enough that I think the slippery slope does not hold water.
I might have agreed with you, if this very week I hadn't read articles about how X group or Y group are calling for the removal of statues for non-Confederate reasons.
The same principles that call for removing Stonewall Jackson are being used to call for the removal of non-Confederate statues, names and etc. Namely that someone is offended that the statue-ee was not PC to the level of modern sensitivity.
