Stumped by Trump's Success? Take A Drive Outside of US Cities.

If you drive anywhere in Pennsylvania, from the turnpike to the old US routes to the dirt roads connecting small towns like Hooversville with “bigger” small towns like Somerset, you might conclude that Donald Trump is ahead in this state by double digits.

Large signs, small signs, homemade signs, signs that wrap around barns, signs that go from one end of a fence to another dot the landscape with such frequency that, if you were playing the old-fashioned road-trip game of counting cows, you would hit 100 in just one small town like this one.

In Ruffsdale, I am pretty sure I saw more than 100 Trump signs.

It’s as if people here have not turned on the television to hear pundits drone on and on about how badly Trump is losing in Pennsylvania.

It’s not just visual: In interview after interview in all corners of the state, I’ve found that Trump’s support across the ideological spectrum remains strong. Democrats, Republicans, independents, people who have not voted in presidential elections for years — they have not wavered in their support.

Yes, 2020 rolls around and, buoyed up by the lies the MSM tells you about how badly Trump is doing, you'll wake up after the election to say, once again, "How Could This Have Happened?

It will happen the same way it happened in 2016; this huge and important reality that is being ignored will manifest itself.

The more grief and consternation Trump brings to DC the more normal people like it.

The MSM isn't lying when they say Trump is doing bad. Trump's administration is a chaotic ****ing disaster. Trump is incapable of running the country properly, and he hasn't been able to get much of anything done. So many people are resigning/being fired from his administration on a consistent basis. Just an all-around terrible job.

And the saddest part is the die-hard Trump supporters that refuse to acknowledge that, and still think Trump's playing 85D chess or some ****.

Trump will have a 4yr term to be judged on in 2020. That os what determine people opinion of him. Nothing going right now will be remembered by the majority of the public.

Anyone thinks that all of this first year stuff will be forgotten is silly.

Not with the numbers he has now. No President with less than 46% approval rating has ever won re-election.

His administration definitely has some disasters, which means something. despite polls , which are generally done in the big cities and more dems are polled and reps and then they skew it with their own weighting.. even with all that articles like this tell you that there are a lot of people who despite all that would prefer Trump and all his baggage to something like a Hillary.
And for the average person things are improving. Unemployment continues to drop. average wage going up slow but going up. In key areas like construction its has gone up significantly. consumer price index ,which usually spikes in the summer did not this year its flat.
Still a lot of issues that are not resolved but still. it is what it is.

I just returned from an Upper Michigan to Sacramento road trip mostly via HWY 80 most of the way, and I'll second what the OP said. In addition to that is three are lots of billboards for various companies "hiring, will train". I haven't seen a lot of those in the last few years. There are dozens of jobs listed in the want ads of the local papers - mostly blue collar jobs.

If you get away from your digitized world's echo chamber, things are going on. And this is what Trump will be judged on in 2020.

Note: When traveling we almost entirely go to local restaurants where the locals eat, so you really do get a feel as to what is going on. Lots of new trucks and lots of dirty work boots = jobs.
