I can honestly say, without any hesitation, you come at me with a Gun, Baseball Bat or whatever, there will definitely be Violence ... that's a Promise the requires zero admittance, because that's a sure thing.

People went there with the intention of coming to blows with the Nazis. And they got their wish. Why is it so difficult for you to acknowledge that? Two fringe groups fought one another at that rally. Pretending that violent leftists aren't culpable is just you doing what you pretend to condemn--enabling and apologizing for bad behavior

Oh, antifa'ers themselves are FOS and little else. They get off on anarchy and phony excuses. And some people DO believe them.
I was talking about those sad sacks who romanticize idiots like antifa as though they're justified because they fight for a noble cause. Those people are simply poorly informed.
But it also needs to be said that other antifa fans are just as FOS as their heroes and know the scum they've allied themselves with, but they have that hate thing going for a common target and that's enough for them to bury their principles.

The 1st amendment protects you from the government, not from your fellow citizens. You do have a right to free speech, you don't have a right to a consequence free environment.
 
I feel everyone is neglecting the main problem with Trump's response. The debate about who caused the violence or the statue are completely irrelevant.

You had a rally of white supremacists who openly claimed that Trump was on their side. They chanted "Heil Trump." David Duke claimed they were carrying out Trump's agenda. Trump had a duty to clearly tell them that he was not on their side. Yet, after Trump's remarks the white supremacists where happy with Trump's response. So, clearly he didn't make it clear.

Not all racists launched terrorist attacks, no, just one. Not all of them beat people up at the demonstration, either, just some of them. I suppose we need to separate the moderate and non violent white supremacists from the non violent ones.

What we don't need to do is to invent an 'alt left' presence at SC and try to stand reason on its head to support the nonsense coming out of Trump.. or do we?
