They should all go in a museum

That's a good point. Is there one? It would make an interesting aftermath exhibit.

With little warning, the University of Texas at Austin removed three Confederate monuments from its campus overnight, 10 days before classes are set to begin.

Work to remove statues of two Confederate generals, Robert E. Lee and Albert Sidney Johnston, and the Confederate cabinet member John Reagan began late Sunday and continued into the early morning. A statue of James Stephen Hogg, Texas’ 20th governor, was also being removed.

I have absolutely no problem when the statues are removed with due process. In their case, the institution that placed them took them down. It's when we topple them like those videos we saw in Iraq that my fur goes up.

Trying to motivate more backlash, are you. It was this sick gleefulness that heloed to bring us Trump.

you mean like the massive demonstration in Boston? Gotcha. Stupidity and lies gave us trump.

They should all go in a museum

I think that depends on the specific memorial. A lot of them were massed produced , and the same memorial got sold in the north with a different plaque memorializing some union General or infantry division. I think the massed produced ones (both union and confederate) which are cheaply made should be removed, and not put in a museum. The ones that people took the care and effort into making something that is actually a piece of good art, and not cheaply made should be put in a museum.

Did you know that there were a lot of statues that were sold in both the north and south that are virtually identical, except for the symbol on the belt buckle , depending on if it's a union memorial or a confederate one?

Considering the resentment for removing the memorials, I would not mind if there is an equal movement to remove all of these mass produced civil war memorials.. both union and confederate.

The Alt-right brought it unto themselves. They made their free speech and now the backlash has defeated them. If they had kept their mouths shut perhaps this wouldnt have happened.

There is a lot of truth in that. Nazis defending these statues is what is dooming them to the scrap heap. If Nazis start rallying around apple pie and Chevrolet, those would soon be doomed as well.
