I've been trying to figure out what all this hysteria is about, and why people keep assuming that anything other than instant 100% agreement in all particulars means you're a nazi sympathizer.... this would explain a lot, though no doubt those suffering from it will deny it or ignore it.

The most visible Mass Hysteria of the moment involves the idea that the United States intentionally elected a racist President. If that statement just triggered you, it might mean you are in the Mass Hysteria bubble. The cool part is that you can’t fact-check my claim you are hallucinating if you are actually hallucinating. But you can read my description of the signs of mass hysteria and see if you check off the boxes.

Interesting thread...if you don't agree with me, you're insane, and if you deny it, that is proof of your insanity.

Ok, have fun in your echo chamber...hehe

Hmm...."Trump supports racists and if you deny it you're a racist". Does that comment sound anything like what we're seeing right now?

Sounds like Rosie ODonnel and Michael Moore.

Not from me...I fully acknowledge that being a dumbass could also be a valid reason to deny it. hehehe FFS.

He's in a bubble of his own. Smart, talented guy, but I disagree with him about a lot of things. And that goes back to well before he switched to supporting Trump.

However, being a techie, I enjoy(ed) the hell out of Dilbert.

Almost everyone is in a bubble of some sort. We tend to choose our social circle within a certain range of "like me" or at least "makes me look good". Even those of our friends we think are very different from us are probably different more by degree than kind.

We who come here to DP expose ourselves to substantially different views.... but mostly we just argue, bluster and condemn, rather than discussing things and trying to see where the other side is coming from.

Interesting thought process. It does seem like we are in a mass hysteria. The left over the loss and election of a nut. And the right? From the constant attack from the left for the past 8.5 years or so. It has whipped us into a frenzy.

The crowd is not the sum of its parts.

I am a republican who did not vote for Trump (Or Hillary).

The left attacked the Right for the 8 years of the Obama presidency?

Well that's it, I've heard it all now.

Check Please!

Totally agree.

I try to avoid the bluster/condemn threads, as well as the ones that are just rote talking points being thrown. Arguing is inevitable, but if it's at least interwoven with intelligent exchanging of ideas and perspectives, that's okay by me.

I certainly don't claim to have the ultimate truth about anything.
