From the Daily Caller:

“I think he’s in a position right now where he’s much more isolated than he realizes,” Gingrich said in an interview with Fox News’ Bill Hemmer. “On the Hill, he has far more people willing to sit to one side and not help him right now, and I think that he needs to recognize that he’s taken a good first step with bringing in General Kelly, but he needs to think about what has not worked. You don’t get down to 35 percent approval and have people in your own party shooting at you and conclude that everything’s going fine.”
Newt Warns Trump: 'Serious Changes' | The Daily Caller

Presumably, Gingrich has already offered this opinion to the President himself. Any ideas on why he has now spoken so publicly?

Trump will invent every excuse in the book for why things aren't going his way. He is incapable of taking personal responsibility.

He's desperately trying to stay relevant and in the media spotlight as somehow, magically, credible with something important to say. Newt is about Newt (just like Trump) and and exposure for Newt.

I'm guessing he wants more attention.

Newt Gingrich is a politician first. He has wet his index finger in his mouth and held it up in the prevailing wind!

Wait. So Newt isn't allowed to say his opinion more than once? You're probably just mad that Newt used to be one of Trump's biggest cheerleaders. I think he still is, but he might be slowly changing that.

It appears that Newt has decided that Trump is on his way out and is putting distance between them. Also we can assume that Trump is pretty not happy with Gingrich, he was counting on a lot of help but what has Newt done for the country this year? I am not shocked because I have never liked Gingrich, I dont like how he works, and I dont like how little work he generally does...he is a talker not a doer.

DJT is neither a "talker or a doer."

Because it looks like a decision has been made behind the scenes from some GOP shakers and movers that Trump must go before the 2018 elections gear up and they prove a disaster for the GOP.

He is a combination of con man, bully boy, bull crap artist , and mental case.

An authorized biography spanning two decades from the 1970s to the 1990s, Citizen Newt: The Making of a Reagan Conservative explores how Newt Gingrich, a twice-failed nominee to Georgia's sixth district of the House of Representatives, rose in influence in American politics, becoming one of the most significant conservative politicians of the 20th century, only being surpassed by President Ronald Reagan.

Not totally sure what you're asking here -- he's a frequent guest on the show he's being quoted from, so he speaks publicly (in the same manner) quite a bit.

You guys are soooo cynical!

When the people in question are Trump and Newt, do we need to explain why cynicism might just be appropriate?

Cynical? It's Newt effing Gingrich, one of the most pathetic, hypocritical, attention-hungry adulterous whores in politics today.

You aren't making the distinction between speaking privately to the President and speaking publicly.

I did. What I didn't do or imply is that Gingrich doesn't have the right to say what he pleases and to whomever he pleases or express any feelings at all. You made that up.

What Newt understand very well...but isn't talking about...is that those guys on the Hill won't ever be willing to sit down and try to work with Trump because Trump is upsetting their cushy setup.

The only thing Trump can do about those Republican Congressmen is speak to the people and try to send those Elites packing. If he cannot do that then they will continue to oppose him.

Those "movers and shakers" had better ask the American people if this is what WE want.

Re: Newt Sounds The Alarm: Trump Won’t Have ‘Stable’ Presidency Without ‘Serious Chan

Even Gingrich can read the tea leaves .... Trump has become politically toxic and there is no end in sight to the downward spiral.

Charlottesville is a tipping point that is probably irreversible.

I think they have and that is why they are beginning to move.

Newt Gingrich is a politician first. He has wet his index finger in his mouth and held it up in the prevailing wind!

that wet finger was previously up tRump's ass

what did tRump do to piss in newt's corn flakes such that gingrich would now dare be critical of the president

Re: Newt Sounds The Alarm: Trump Won’t Have ‘Stable’ Presidency Without ‘Serious Chan

Those "movers and shakers" had better ask the American people if this is what WE want.

why would they be concerned about that

the wiser choice is to provide the campaign contributors whatever it is THEY want from government
