Native American warriors attacked and butchered American troops and innocent American men, women and children. They owned slaves long before Columbus.

There are monuments to American Indians in Oklahoma who joined the Southern Cause.

Cherokee & Choctaw tribes joined the Confederacy. One of the main reasons those tribes fought for the south was that they bought and sold black slaves. Owning slaves was not a foreign idea to them. They owned slaves before meeting the white men.

The Natives were here first. The Confederacy wasn't. Nice try, though.

Completely irrelevant to my point. It was their land in the first place and the white man took it.

this is a justification for slavery?

Who needs to justify slavery in this context? If you're a Native American watching your world shrink year by year, watching white men crowd you and limit your ability to feed your people and the Civil War ignites, do you go with wherever you see your best chance of survival or do you go with the moral high ground? Considering that there's nothing in your culture that says slavery is wrong, I mean.
Slavery was not acceptable in western culture in 1866 or whenever that war started. No way does a group of Native Americans siding with the Confederacy in a desparate attempt to survive equal justification for slavery.

Im not the one making the argument.

The OP argued that we should remove indian memorials because they supported slavery.
Phys argued that there support of slavery was OK because they here first.
I am challenging that reasoning by Phys.

If you want to argue on a staw man, no, they were not the first their ancestors were. No humans were native to the north American continent but the Clovis culture were the first settlers of North America and the ancestors of all living "Native Americans". The genes reveal that early Americans are the product of two lineages that most likely met and interbred in Asia before making the trek across the Bering land bridge.

Slavery was practiced differently by native Americans as well.

Seems you are wrong.

The so-called Clovis people, known for their distinctive spearheads, were not the first humans to set foot in the Americas after all, a new study says.

The find supports growing archaeological evidence found in recent years that disputes the notion that the Americas were originally populated by a single migration of people from Asia about 13,000 years ago.

The Europeans weren't in Europe first then either.

We ALL came out of Africa.

And the native Americans didn't take it from anybody.

Wait, don't Marxists like you believe in open borders? The white men were just undocumented immigrants.

What does that matter?

It destroys the ridiculous narrative that "we [whites] were here first" and by implication deserve to establish the dominant culture.

A strawman, a personal insult, and a post completely devoid of facts. Yeehaw, it's the hat trick!!

It's not about slavery. It's about treason and betrayal for slavery's sake.

where was your side on this in the 80s and 90s if its about treason?

Seems you are wrong.

From your article, which is subjective as most historical records are: "the Americas were originally populated by a single migration of people from Asia about 13,000 years ago." So, call them as you like, they still migrated from Asia across the land bridge, no "native" population in the Americas. As "What if...?" points out, no matter whether you go with science or religion - human life appears to have started in the African Continent.

BTW What if...? I once read where Geronimo was supposed to have said during his capture - We took this country from the old ones, now you take it from us, one day someone will take it from you.

White man speak with forked tongue.

Is betrayal and treason OK if it is not for slavery's sake?
