Majority of Americans Support Confederate Statues Remaining in Place

Nobody wants to demolish history your post is a lie. The local city should vote and decide whether or not to remove the statue.
your thread is anti-American and anti-democracy.

The most pressing issue is where the hell to start. All US presidents were purveyors of genocide, most were war criminals/terrorists/gangsters/thieves/... .

The first monstrosity that should be leveled is Six Grandfathers. Then there is a long road after that.

It's not your decision to make.

Yeah sure.....lots of brave souls RIP...both sides! Real men and their cause....a part of OUR history....learn from it, do not try and hide what happened...

I think that, rather than history being demolished, it should be revealed. Washington, Jefferson, and who else were stunning hypocrites, racists from beginning to end. The US was founded on myriad lies. It wasn't a revolution for human rights, it was a group of people who saw a great opportunity to replace those stealing the wealth with themselves. But they had to invent this **** and bull story to get the gullible to follow them.

The US was founded thru terrorism and terrorist actions. It was founded on genocide. And the US hasn't slowed a bit since then.

So yes, leave the statues and provide an accurate portrayal of all these evil men.

My goodness! You're so enlightened!

I think the political left, i.e. Democrats, needs to take notice that the majority of the electorate aren't with them as far as this SJW nonsense of tearing down historical monuments and statues.

Of course, they didn't take notice as political control of so many, many states slipped from their fingers over the last 8 years, so there's no telling if they will or not. Put me down as one who thinks that they won't, and they'll lose even more political influence supporting such nonsense.

This is not how you grow your party's political influence.

You'd almost think that the goal is not to grow the influence.

Obviously, that influence, measured by the number of election wins in the last 8 years, is shrinking.

What other goals could they hold?

Do you mean the racists, the purveyors of genocide, the terrorists? I find it amazing that folks are willing to sell their souls for a buck.

I don't hate the men at all, I hate what they were, lying hypocrites, purveyors of genocide, racists.

You left out the part about revolutionary thinkers, creators of the hope of the world and saviors of mankind.

nobody is trying to hide history your right wing paranoia is showing.

Same reason why we got stuck with Trump, the worst president in the history of the United States, when it went against the majority that voted for Hillary.
Namely, the process by which a community removes such things has its own rules and constituency, that doesn't need to conform to some poorly worded poll.

That's saying something in view of his two immediate predecessors.

Is vandalism the rule of the constituencies where the statures are being removed?

Constitution for the United States - We the People

But if 2/3 of the country wants the statues to remain in place, isn't it antidemocratic to for remove them because a loud minority wets their pants at the thought of a historic statue? Yes, yes it is.

bull crap post as usual. the national vote doesnt matter. municipal votes matter. maybe try a civics class

the criteria is really simple. no monuments for traitors

The Democrats have been taken over by the hard left (Benie, Ellis, Warren et. al.), swinging the party to hard left positions. Only thing, given population bell curves, there are fewer voters in the electorate that are hard left.

I had heard that participation trophies are a good thing.

Well then. Guess we oughta keep those participation trophies up.

While we're at it, we should also erect participation trophies to Benedict Arnold, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, Timothy McVeigh, the 9/11 hijackers...

No paranoia here, no, wait....let me check my pocket...nah, just a Quarter, oh, my...look who it is ... good ole George Washington, he next?....fool..

Man, a lot of people sure do seem to be obsessed with those holy government flags..

Considering that 2/3 of the country wants confederate statues to remain in place, shouldn't we be labeling those who want them removed as 'extremists'?

Why do you think the media appears to be in the minority of extremists who want to demolish history? Do they have a radical agenda?

So I take it that you support poll results?

Put them in museums where all mass murdering regime leaders go.

I have studied the revisionists through history who attempted to erase the records of those who came before. This is nothing new. It's been going on for 4,000 years.

Do you think that erasing the history surrounding the Civil War, whoopsie, War Between the States, is a good thing?

I've always thought that the origin of Stonewall Jackson's nick name was an amusing story. The atrocities committed in the Antebellum South are the foundation of the modern day Affirmative Action programs. Take away the foundations and many things fall apart.

History tells us a story that is what it is. Some is good and some not so good, but the fabric is comprised of all of the threads. Of course, history is written by the victors so it's only as accurate as their bias will allow.

Erasing history is not a great way to explain to our children how to avoid mistakes.

Posts like this are getting really old and really tiresome, nobody is trying to erase history. Northerners will be more than happy to remind Confederate apologists what idiots they are not to mentioned what losers the Confederacy was.
