It's never too early to stop asking this. If we somehow survive until January 2021 or until the GOP wing of congress gets a backbone we need to make changes to keep this catastrophe from happening again. There has to be some counterweight against the votes of a not-insignificant portion of the electorate that no longer cares about objective facts for certain groups of their fellow Americans. Perhaps there is some way to force the GOP to use some kind of superdelegate system? Even if the GOP will pick corporate titans to be their superdelegates at least that will be better than every ignorant Bubba and Jim Bob pulling the lever for whatever angry knuckle-dragger appears on the ballot.

I disagree. I think a simple solution would be to have the states all go to electoral votes directly in line with the popular vote. No winner take all. And the super delegate thing has always left a bad taste in my mouth.

We're going to survive just fine and if the current state of affairs is any indication, we'll most likely be doing quite well. The money being spent by TDS suffering liberals on psychiatric counseling alone will produce a substantial economic boom.

The continuation of the Left's demeaning attitude towards towards such a large % of this nation will keep haunting them at every step.

The GOP doesn't have super-delegates, that kind of elitism is strictly a DNC thing.

So the answer to your question is: End the hyperbole and negativity, stop being insulting to people just because you don't agree with them and operate in the realm of reality, instead of projection of your attributes onto others. Do those things and you might have a better chance at wining than a cellophane dog in a blast furnace. But until the left figures out that hate, division, insults, and blatant dishonesty are not attributes that people are looking for, you will continue to lose ground.

Instant runoff voting would help a lot too.

You should definitely call everyone who voted for him stupid as much as possible. Seriously, make it the central campaign theme. Point fingers.

Do not nominate amother lying witch like Clinton would be a start

Don't run a loser like Hillary and it would be a non-issue. ;)

How do we prevent another Trump?

Don't run another Hilary! :doh

It would have been easy. And everyone knows it. That is why it is so sad and why every american is responsible for the preseny President.

Oh...yeah...sure...that's what the GOP needs...the same kind of system the Democratic Elites used to screw over the Democratic base.

After all, the "common" man is too dumb to have a viewpoint and shouldn't be allowed to have their decisions count.

Beat me to it, by mere seconds!

It is obvious that Trump got a significant portion of the 'not Hillary' vote. The sad thing is that many still try to blame the Russians rather than fess up and admit that Hillary was a terrible choice.

One way to avoid another Trump would be to vote for the LP candidate. Or the Green Party candidate. Boycott the duopoly.

Not very realistic all things considered, but possible in theory.

"Russian interference" and "lousy opponent" are not mutually exclusive.

But regardless of what's found, she absolutely sucked! And that's probably good enough.

Great, so all we need to do is make sure we have a candidate who hasn't had years of right-wing-radio slander directed at them? We can always go with some candidate no one has ever heard of so that they aren't disliked. Right-wing media is going to destroy any rising star in the party. We need to fight for our candidates instead of complaining that Rush Limbog listeners don't like them.

Perhaps more male progressives should stand up to the blatant sexism directed at Hillary during the campaign instead of complaining that people don't like Hillary?

That's the most ignorant, elitist post of the month. Who put you so high upon the pedestal that you can look down on the rest of us?

I hope we don't do a thing. I like Trump just fine.

Like I said, don't change a thing about your approach. Democrats have made no mistakes, and it's all everyone else's fault. Keep the faith. Stay strong.

Protest votes for crap candidates isn't going to break the duopoly. The smaller parties need to start at the city and state level and develop a message and a presence. Then they can move into national politics and make an impact. Right now they just seem to be nothing more than personality driven vanity campaigns.

While there's some truth in what you say, the bottom line is she totally sucked. Even many that voted for her didn't like her. She, unlike her husband, just comes across as an unlikable person. In an age when personal charisma carries great political weight.

Do you think for one moment, that Trump would have beaten Joe Biden?

Hell, I'm not sure Trump could have beaten Bernie! But he beat Hillary.
