I feel real bad for respectable members of the GOP

If it looks like ****, smells like ****, feels like ****, tastes like ****, must be ****.

There are some people with such low levels of common sense that I really don't think they know how to see, smells, feel, taste, and touch and come back with an opinion off what they had to care much for their report.

I've been atheist all my life, including childhood. I've never for a moment accepted anything supernatural. I capitalize God and He (when referencing God) out of respect.

One who condemns others for presuming God's condemnation cannot turn around and do the same without looking hypocritical and petty.

Dang it thats fine. I was of on the wrong road, but I don't care about looking petty and hypocritical. I'm talking about political figures who are supposed to be leaders. Who give a dang who I'm am. I'm some nobody prolly in my moms basement. even though we don't have basements in Texas. I go to work go home play with my hound. I don't care what anyone thinks of me unless its someone that I care what they think of me. and there aint but less than one hand of those. Forget me. Go after the argument. Thats what I do these dangs things for.

I give you your point. I don't care if I look petty, maybe is it Karma that the GOP has played fast and loose with election laws only to fully succeed, than get a Trump stain on the trophy.

I still can't get a good read on McCain. I know I like him and respect him and his life. But its hard to tell how much he believes what his situation has devolved into.

Even if you don't care how you look, you should care how your arguments look at a debate forum. You want to win debates (or at least points), right?

Yeah and there's time when I know it will never get there. Who I'm with gets stuck and so then I just start posting crap to keep it going. Over the next few days people stop and look in this little thread. Quite a ew will ignore our argument and post their thoughts. A couple days I later I check it out and I learn. I don't care to be liked. I am an alpha dog.

If your effort is to explore opinions and learn, you're miles ahead of many members. Have at it.

The thoughts are there you hate my language and attitude.

Yep exactly.

I don't like Religious Conservatives that invoke the wrath of God against those who they morally disagree with. But I dislike even more you invoking God against those religious conservatives as a gotcha. It's petty and means nothing. I also hate an attitude that at once tries to show empathy for the "The respectable members" but then makes the blanket statement of "their contempt of people not like them."

Had you stuck to the disappointment many GOP members might have in the current situation I wouldn't have had a problem with it.

Like this is the way I see it. When history writes about this period of our country. The first black president will be a side note. Trump will be the show. Is it luck, Karma, God, is it a coincident that the most destructive figure the GOP has ever produced comes about as they have a historic strangle hold on the government.

I feel like some of the more moderate GOP have been pandering to the base more than they want, because they are so hound dog loyal. But now they have wrote a check with their mouth. I believe many Congressional members have a republican health care bill. I think what happened is they were saying repeal and over the next two years has it out. Then this just dumard of a yick yack idiot, no repeal and replace. Done. Sounds better. Yuge. Just a dang idiot.

This latest cover up where dumb dumb dictated what dumb dumb the younger was gonna say about the Russian meeting. He had people saying no lie like this. No I'm gonna lie like that. Bigy yuge. grab em by the..... Just an idiot.

If I was a GOP congressman right now I would be so dang mad. I'd prolly just quit.

I don't care if I look petty. I already hashed that out with the other guy. The replies are still there. I think we covered all you bases you just mentioned. Its a fun little read. Let me know what you think.

And honestly I don't hate much of any thought. I hate certain kinds of weather. I hate certain foods. But thought are neutral. Either I buy what I see or don't. I'm not mad at you for putting it in the market. If free speech is the market place of ideas. I'm not gonna be mad when I see pigs feet in the cooler, even though I hate to eat pigs feet.

Your position would be more appealing without the nasty remarks. I'm certainly no republican (on social issues I'm progressive), but I don't do the nastiness. I respect the office (I make fun of some stuff now and then, but that's in good humor).

Your point about Reps having the WH and congress, and still stalling out, is interesting. If you limited your discussion to that and a presumed disappointment among the GOP in general, you might get more productive responses. The disrespect is not needed and will just create counter-trolling that mucks up the subject at hand.

Fair enough, You did cover my bases.

Its just the way I talk, man. I don't appreciate condescension and having people "suggest" how I should talk, but I ain't gonna take you to task on it. you got a right to do it. Bother me enough, never look at the thread again.

And there ain't no "office" there. The building and the walls house paper phones, computers etc. Those are empty rooms until he fill it. 6 months in and has no office. 44 other men have managed to do that. That ain't no president and there aint no office over there on Penn Ave.

I talk like an ass because it gets all the passive aggressive dancing out of the way. I feel like now we can talk but if we were arguing who said what we'd be doing that for weeks.

Well said. I agree. What's tough in a forum like this is discerning who is spoiling for a fight vs who is looking for a dialogue and debate. It's all too easy for folks to start with a prejudice that needs to be backed out here than the other way around.

Oh heck I did the same to that eco guy. I took him as a church man, when he was a respectful man who didn't believe. People are spoiling for a fight. So I do it like prison. Walk in punch the biggest guy, maybe get knocked down, but now we know where we stand. So have you dug into the OP at all. I think it is truly a bizare fluke and history will have a field day with it.

I'm about 20 years into my political education. I'm a Texan. My main subject of interest has always been elections. I watch the candidates, platforms, conventions etc, but I mean the tool of electing. I pay close attention to the Voter ID nonsuch, the redrawing of districts, gerrymandering, etc. I believe in PR, not plurality and winner take all. I have seen many good GOP members fight for their base according to the rules and norms of governing. I disagree with their principles, but that is to be expected. Governing is about compromise. I don't believe our elections are entirely fair, but it is not because of voter fraud, it is because of who you allowed o vote for in the first place.

The respectable members of the GOP must be sick right now. They have a majority in the House, the Senate, governors, I believe, president, a Supreme Court And they can DO NOTHING! History and politics has aligned to give them all the tools that should be needed to turn this country into some pathetic imitation of the 1950s. And they can do nothing! Nothing, not one thing!

For once I believe in divine retribution. I believe God gave them the power, then gave them Trump and started laughing. Katrina was retribution for gays, you reap what you sow, all the cliches they used to mask their contempt of people not like them, and now their roosters are coming to roost. This guy is going to fracture the party bigly, yugely, the independent left and right is on the rise. This guy may be the impetus for another realignment by Conservative rage. Anyways I'm glad. I feel that the GOP has been using the election system as a tool in the wrong way for a good long time. I know I've seen it go on for 20 years now. Finally all that groundwork comes to bear fruit, and it is cheaply made tacky, GOP GMO fare with a Trump brand sticker on it.

I totally agree with everything you've said:

1. The GOP win elections by cheating.
2. They are great at getting people to vote against their own economic interests.
3. Once in power they're unable to legislate.

One thing I think is really dishonest in someone is to use some who will ffollow you. Someone sees you as being on their side, and they have that follower personality. They look up to leaders, not down on em like I do, lol, but to take advantage of that, pat em on the head, give them guns and toys and just watch out for Wall Street and the pharma companies. They patted too many heads this time. The yokels came out of ever holler to vote this time. Get rid of Muslims, Build a wall, Kill things with the word obama near. They took advantage off that rage and now they have too many people on board at the grassroots to only walk down wall street.

That's great!

For me, the Jury is still out, so I can't make a premature call on it. We've had many presidents that have had to be reevaluated after the fact to determine what they really did. LBJ got his ass kicked in office for Vietnam only to later be recognized for Civil Rights. Nixon obviously got his ass kicked only to be recognized for opening up China to the west and bringing about detente with the USSR.

It's hard being in the" interesting time" and evaluating that time for whether we've had a convergence of events that are substantial or not. I guess the question that will soon need to be answered is whether or not Trump will become the right leader at the right time like Reagan did with USSR, or FDR did with WWII. After all, like what I think you elude to in the OP, a convergence of leader, time and place is what indicates a pivotal change.
