Democrat run US cities, that is.

An article on how the riots of 50 years ago changed Detroit: The city’s decline began before 1967, but the violence then made it worse. “Sadly, by most measures black Detroiters are considerably worse off today than they were in 1967.” The rioters were presented as the vanguard of social justice, even though the consequences of their actions fell on the poorest and weakest.

Detroit's last Republican mayor left office in 1957.

Odd how America, a first world country, has so many third world cities, all of them run by Democrats. In all of these cases the problem is the same: Democrats have run up taxes and regulations and chased businesses out of the city. The resulting decline is the consequence of their big government mentality. In Detroit the riots set off an orgy of new laws, taxes, and regulations in a Democratic lead attempt to address Detroit's problems, but all of that just made things a lot worse.

You can't act like third world tribe and be a first world party. As well meant as the civil rights movement and policies might have been ....
