PORTLAND, Ore. -- A man accused of breaking into a 65-year-old woman's home, sexually assaulting her and stealing her car was arrested after allegedly assaulting another woman and running from police.Sergio Jose Martinez, 31, was caught July 24 after officers chased him through a neighborhood.
According to court documents filed in March 2017, Martinez has a history of illegal entry into the United States. He has been a transient in the Portland area for more than a year and has been deported 20 times.
Martinez has at least five probation violations for re-entering the United States. His most recent removal was in November 2016, according to the March court documents.

It's **** like this that pisses me off when it comes to "Sanctuary Cities". Entirely preventable crime against this woman, but for politics.

Someone with 20 prior deporations is not a sanctuary city problem - they are a federal government problem when allowed to comit at least 19 known federal felonies (over one per year?) and are simply "deported". Had this "bad hombre" been given the possible (and well desreved?) 10 year sentence for just his last few illegal re-entries (giving him the customary 15 "second" chances?) then he would not have been Oregon's problem.

What happens to a member of NOW when she runs in to a story like this one?

Is there a logic meltdown or just a wink and a nod in order to gain more funding?

This is both the fault of the sanctuary city for releasing the man and the fault of the federal government for not locking his ass up. I know illegal alien testicle lickers like to claim illegal immigration is not a crime, it's a civil offense. The truth is illegal immigration into the country is a criminal offense. It's a misdemeanor for the first illegal entry which is punishable with 6 months in jail and each illegal re entry is a felony punishable with 2 years in prison for each illegal immigration offense. If he was locked up and sent to prison after his 2nd illegal entry he may not even gone to Portland in the first place.Heck may not even gone back into the US. This isn't the sole fault of the sanctuary city.
