Why were they masked in the first place. Who wears a mask to do normal legal business?

It was just coincidence then. Right. Why is it you reject the idea that political operatives would misuse such information for political purposes? Is it because they are democrats? Would you be as forgiving if it were Cheney and his henchmen unmasking Obama people in 2008? Of course not. It used to be that you could count on liberals to take a tough stand on privacy matters. Not any more. Go ahead bury your head in the sand. There is another election coming up in 2020 and it will Trump people in charge of the intelligence apparatus.

There are two parts: the unmasking, which is controlled and must be specially requested, and the leaks.
You are assuming the unmasking was requested specifically in order to leak. I'm not making that assumption. How would you even know you'd want to leak the names?

Unmasking by authorized people isn't an issue. Leaking is a huge issue I certainly don't support. Political parties don't concern me. I didn't vote for GW Bush (though I voted for his dad) and I didn't vote for Obama or Clinton or Trump. So I think you're projecting your bias in me.
