McCain: GOP Comfort Station on Road to Perdition

Trump Humiliates Everyone, Including John McCain | HuffPost

I think Fineman gives Trump a little too much credit for Republican Senators moral swan dive. Most of them dislike Obamacare as much as he does but for a different reason.
Trump hates it because in the public mind it's not named for him.

That is an excellent point about the name. I get the impression if they repealed Obamacare and replaced it with the exact same program with more solid funding behind it, and it was called Trumpcare - our fearless leader would be happy as a clam with it. This is more about erasing any Obama legacy than it is about health care policy.

Hilariously enough his supporters would be all over it too. They're not really details and policy people, just easily roused with catchy phrases and optics, and there's nothing they hate more than the Kenyan muslim tyrant socialist who tried to destroy America.

"THANKS FOR FIXING HEALTHCARE PRESIDENT TRUMP, YOU ARE A TRUE PATRIOT. MAGA" :2usflag:

Obama and his fellow Dems grinned ear to ear every time someone called the ACA OBAMAcare. The Obama legacy. Good on them. A long overdue HC reform, a notch in their belts, their posterchild.
It isn't quite as good as we thought it could have been. It needs urgent repair. Nothing wrong with that. If it's broke, you fix it.
Suggesting THEY dislike Obamacare for the name is just more partisan whining. Admitting that a monstrosity like the ACA can't be perfect and working on the first try is constructive criticism.

Most of us know that Trump is as conceited as Obama. It has yet to be seen what the revised HCB will be called when or if it is up and running.

Not so. Many Democrats, myself included, thought it was unfortunate that the ACA became exactly identified with Obama, which could only make the law more hateful to Republicans and
gin up the desire for repeal.

I don't think it's partisan whining to point out the obvious truth. The GOP doesn't have a plan of their own and they're in desperate need of some good PR. The ACA is becoming more and more popular the harder they try to appeal it, so it's not too far fetched to suggest they'd be interested in scoring brownie points with their low-information voters through a re-branding maneuver.

Also, I'd like to remind you it was the GOP that started calling it Obamacare because they thought it would help drive down the popularity.

Actually if you listen to McConnell talk in the Senate even NOW he refers to it as Obamacare. Because he knows attaching Obama's name to it will help make it less popular, especially with the RW Republican base.. McConnell and others keep calling it Obamacare for the negative effect, not a positive.

C'mon, of course it is commonly referred to as Obamacare. No secret. It is also certain that, at its conception and passing, Obama gloated at his priced accomplishment, Dems cheering him on and drooling down their chin while thumping their chest because THEY did it. Their creation, proudly referred to as Obamacare. Now you want to scapegoat Republicans for having adopted the term? Get real.
The only reason you don't want the ACA associated with the term now is because a- it is not as perfect as you first thought and b- because it is associated with a bill that was rammed through by DEMS, before its time.
Hey, I am not saying the Repubs are taking the right approach or will come up with a better plan. But please don't distance yourself from something, including the nod to the former potus, every time the HCP was and is referred to as OC.
Best approach to solving a problem is admitting there is one. I am so sick of this partisan hackery.

Reps tried to create and pass Trumpcare in 2 weeks. Let me know when Trumpcare has months of public hearings.

GOP's secrecy about their Trumpcare Bills has been MUCH worse than the Dems ever were.

Most people I know freely admit ACA needs fixing, the Republicans NEVER EVER had plans to 'fix it', they used it as a political hammer. No one can argue about that now. They voted 60+ times to defund it. 6+ years of screaming by the GOP about ACA and they STILL have no plans to replace it or fix it. If you want to be honest you know damn well if the GOP sits down with the Dems the Dems will work with them to fix ACA, the Dems are willing to do anything to save it. But the GOP CAN NOT be seen to compromise or even talk to the Dems, McConnell made that very clear weak.

And then there's Trump and his constant lies.

You will end up with great health care for a fraction of the price and that will take place immediately after we go in. Immediately! Fast! Quick!”

TRUMP: People covered under the law “can expect to have great health care. It will be in a much simplified form. Much less expensive and much better… lower numbers, much lower deductibles.”

"I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not," Trump said. He added: "The government's gonna pay for it."

I can go on and on but I'm not going to waste my time. Trump has lied about Health Insurance and Health Care since day 1. He kind of makes the YEARS of outrage about Obama's 'you can keep your doctor' statement seem punny.

Nothing partisan about Trump lies. Only about the people who defend his lies who still spew outrage at Obama's 'you can keep your doctor' statement.

Reps tried to create and pass Trumpcare in 2 weeks. Let me know when Trumpcare has months of public hearings.

Tried, revisited, discussed, still discussing, working on it and hopefully including Dems, so that OUR elected officials get it right for all constituents.

Rumor has it, it will be called 'Trump's WealthCare.'

I've long said that any minor tweak to the ACA would be acceptable as long as Trump could place his brand upon it.

He's so jealous of Obama. I think I read somewhere that he had a tantrum about President Carter getting an award somewhere. No sure how accurate that was though.

Point is, this egomaniac is about to have his own party give him a bitch slapping. Meanwhile, the democrats are chillin' and watching the show. On our tax dollars. LOL!

Gotta love America.

Partisan is when our elected leaders can't get together fixing it, when half the country doesn't want to admit it needs fixing or doesn't want their poster child's legacy dismantled. They defend a failing monstrosity. Too many are more focused on harping on nonsense and prejudices. Please note that I am not defending Trump, but I am holding a candle to the Dems. I have no problem identifying bs on both sides.
Dems are now blocking just like Reps were too busy blocking just about anything that came from across the aisle. We need to tell them to work together and work for us. We pay them good money to do that.
Call your representatives, Rep and Dem alike, and tell them to get it together. I am not talking about you, so don't take this personal. I am talking to all the die hard partisan jockeys out there.
Of note, the stupid and lying sobs always seem to be the ones who won the election, while the other side's intelligence suddenly increases tenfold. This same cycle repeats every four years or so. Amazing.

You know what? Lets call them all to fix it. I could give a rat's ass who gets the credit. I could give a rat's ass that Trump is a vindictive little narcissist, just like his predecessor seems to be. That dude couldn't wait to get a notch in his belt. His legacy and the fact it carries his name, oh how proud he must be.
Continue calling it Obamacare or call it Trumpamacare, as long as we end up with a decent HCB. That is what matters. Well, at least it matters to me.
If you care more about who dunnit instead of results, be my guest.
Dems are chillin, you are right. Too bad they don't want to work for us.They rather sit there like vindictive little brats.
Let me remind you that no one in Congress has to worry about HC, they are siting pretty. All of them. Great benefits, good deal. They made sure of that when they passed the last HC fiasco. So yea, chillin on our dime is fine. Lol.

I think it's partisan hackery to claim the Dems "shoved" or "rammed" it. It was months of public debate. I'm anti-socialist, but mischaracterizing the ACA as "rammed" is a flat out lie or stark ignorance.

Also, it's ironic considering the Reps attempts thus far. After creating a plan in 17 days, it was actually shoved through the House. Then closed sessions? We haven't had 1 month of open debate, we haven't even seen it, and people are talking about passing it.

You forget they made sure everyone has to be there to vote, on their side. Yes, the rammed it through. You see it differently, and that is fine by me. I won't call it an ignorant lie.

It was nearly 2 years of constant public debate including experts and everyone else that had anything to say. How is that "ramming" anything? Are the Reps gonna have 4 years of open debate? If 2 years is "ramming", perhaps we should have 6 years of open debate.

It's a BS partisan talking point to characterize the passing of the ACA as "ramming". There's no 2 ways about it.

If there's a GOD, and I truly believe there is one; John McCain will soon get to meet the people he Voted against getting the same Insurance he has.
