Homeless in Hawaii

No privately owned land whatsoever?

Not to my knowledge it's all managed by lease from the Hawai'ians. KKS manages more land across the Hawai'ian Islands than any other group.

Hum

No wonder hawaii is so liberal

It was a little soviet union before the russians tried it

Stop with the Con BS line that California is on the verge or disaster and some 3rd world country.

The housing problem is because California's economy is booming, because California it is NOT a red hell hole like Mississippi. You hate it in Cali. so much start the exodus and move to Mississippi.

Turn off Fox.

LOL

Don't try to sell lies to me. Are you joking? Do you really think you can post BS like that and get away with it?

They woudl not have to work unless they wanted to

Just attend meeting with the shrinks and take their methadone treatmenst if perscribed

If they ever do come to their senses and want to live productive lives they can be released but not before

Out of sight out of mind. Typical compassionate conservative. Does that go for the physically and mentally incapacitated unable to work as well? Which there are many.

Its better than having them sleeping on the street

you just love posting your ignorance dont you

It sounds like communist land reform to me

Does everyone in hawaii have to pay rent to the collective for the land their house is built on?

Hawaii has the largest homeless population. Mississippi has the smallest homeless population. NICE TRY THOUGH

This Interactive Map Shows How Each State Stacks Up In Terms Of Homelessness - Movoto

THERE ARE SOME FACTS FOR U....JUST LOOK AT THOSE BLUE STATES

THE TOP 9 ARE HUGE BLUE STATES

Protip for ya... Homelessness tend to abound, not always but usually, where the weather is easiest to live in. Hence the pacific there as well as florida. Now that we got that out of the way, what's Mississippi's issue then with poverty and education, public health, dead last in infrastructure and opportunity, Economy near the bottom along with Fiscal Stability?

I mean, they have no homeless to contend with and they are run by your dream team of overwhelming republicans. What's your excuse?

well if you are homeless that means are you probably not working or making income. that has nothing to do with wealth disparity.
the people that are upper middle class have a reason they are upper middle class.

there is a reason these people are homeless and it ranges for a reason. most of them were professionals at one time had families etc ...
and lost it do to addiction. it isn't the working guy's fault these people are where they are.

If you watch the video it addresses how many people were middle class working two jobs and still couldn't make it and went homeless.

Yeah, you may want to read those articles before you post them. 1st one is over a year old and is titled: California's Boom Is Poised To Go Bust.. It hasn't gone 'bust' yet so they are admitting the economy is booming.

The 2nd says this: California, with 2 percent job growth in 2016, gained jobs more rapidly than most states. The growth rate was about equal to Texas and Colorado, but behind such growth centers as Florida, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah and the District of Columbia.

2% is NOT end of the world like Cons try to make it out to be.. 1st article from 216 says there's a bust coming, but the 2nd says 2016 was 2% growth, which is very good. Cali. has something like the 6th-7th largest economy in the world. Stop making it out to be some 3rd world hell hole.

Sure sounds to me like you want them to starve. I simply don't believe you, based on your posting history.

Why don't you answer his questions? Your post does nothing to answer them.

What is your solution to the homeless problem in Hawaii?

utah implemented a program that put homeless people in an apartment and they were assigned counselors to help get them cleaned up get them a job and start being
self sufficient. it seems to have worked a great deal and it cost less money than what they were doing.

Just a link for this amazing story...

Kind of flies in the face of Mac77's idea that the blue welfare states give too much away. Utah gives them houses and free counseling. Why? Because it's cheaper than dealing with them as homeless people.

His questions, like the poster himself, are dishonest to the core. That you can't see that isn't my problem.

There is no one, consolidated 'solution' to the problem that can easily be summed up on a forum like this.

The problem in Hawaii is that, as the video clearly showed, there is a 'lack of inventory' in available/affordable places for people to stay/purchase, and the economic downturn displaced middle class people down to homeless, thus making gainful employment that much more difficult. There are very little places to build left in HI, so you can see what the problem is.

OK, but that is not using federal Medicaid funds to do so.

actually i think they got permission to use some of the federal funding they were getting to do that, but it was specific funds.

Doesn't look to be true in Hawaii. They have a lack of affordable housing.

housing is driven by market conditions. i just stated that and you completely ignored it.
they have limited space, they have a lot of people iving in that space with the income to support it.

that leads to way higher then normal prices. hawaii is an expensive place to live in general.
their cost of living is very expensive.

Criminalizing poverty. Brilliant!

Must be a horrible dump of a place seeing how he lives there and will never move. He'll just bitch about it.

Look up the definition of a lease and see how they work

If you watch the video it addresses how many people were middle class working two jobs and still couldn't make it and went homeless.

the median income in hawaii is 73k. hawaii is an expensive place to live in general. in order to just tread you need to have a job paying at least 60k.
again you can ignore market conditions all you want to but it has little to do with income disparity.

i find it hard to believe that if you are working 2 jobs you are middle class. most middle class families do not work 2 jobs. if they are working two jobs
then are low income jobs. 2 people working 15+ dollar an hour jobs should be able to make it.

I didn't ignore it. I'm saying in high income areas you need affordable housing otherwise you end up with this situation.
