Vick to Kap: "Get a Haircut!"

Was your family enslaved by this country? Did they suffer through Jim Crow restrictions? Are they called N'ers?

Perspective is everything. And, yes. From R Wright's perspective, America maybe did have it coming.

If he expressed his opinions off the field instead of creating a spectacle on it...different story, IMO.

Gee bud, seeing as three hundred thousand American soldiers and sailors die freeing the slaves, it's safe to say that wrong had been righted a long time ago.

Jim Crow is long gone and never coming back.

You know what's a lot worse than random schmoes yelling racial slurs and promptly being rightfully scorned by the entirety of society? Having your entire family hacked apart by machetes.

For all the cries of "oppression" African Americans in this country have it so much better than, well, just about anywhere else.

If he thinks the murder of innocent people is justified, perhaps he should leave. I hear Liberia is lovely this time of year.

His "opinion" was ****ing idiotic.

lol...I was thinking of putting this in sports, but it transcends simple sport talk. I imagine the discussion would get political/racial rather quickly anyway. Hell, I'll probably even take it there in the op.

Some background: Michael Vick, he of the dog fighting infamy--which, come to think of it is also worth discussing here, since I know of no white people who were sent to Leavenworth for dog fighting, and black people not playing QB in the NFL probably just receive a ticket when they get caught--said Colin needs a haircut. Of course, the implication is that Col's 'Fro be too bold and probably scares off the white owners who fear backlash from conservative fans. Media does suggest football is a sport largely followed by conservatives.

Well, I know this, when I went to look for a job, I certainly made sure the lettuce was tight. So, in that respect i agree with Vick. Clean up your image, and jobs may come calling.

On the flipside, Kap is looking to play football. Hair styles seem to be all over the map in that sport. Of course, few players have the rebel rep like Kap. And, if there is one thing conservatives hate, it's a rebellious black man. Remember their fury over the honest words spoken by Reverend Wright?

Far as I'm concerned, it isn't the haircut. It was his actions that probably are driving owners away from him. Actions, decisions, choice all have consequences. One can debate whether the consequences are right or wrong. Whether the actions, decisions, choices taken were right or wrong. Regardless, once someone makes a choice, a decision or take an action, that someone is responsible for what is to come.

I also think if Kap was in the elite QB category like Brady, Payton Manning etc. He would have had another job. But an average QB, they had better be more aware of their surroundings and what actions, decisions they make mainly because they don't have the leeway or advantages of an elite QB.

He didn't say it was justified. He said, "Chickens coming home to roost."

Stay focused. Don't interject strawmen.

Which implies that it was justified.

You claimed that conservatives hate "rebellious black men". In reality, it's a lot simpler. People hate those who make incredibly stupid claims.

No. Chickens coming home to roost is more like when someone constantly speeding finally loses control of their car and smashed into a tree. It's not justified, but it certainly explains much.

Saying "chickens coming home to roost" is somehow excusing 911, is false. It's simply saying that we are not as innocent as the official story plays it out to be.

It's not about the haircut. It's about attitude and ability. Kap has too much of one and too little of the other.

Uh, no. I suggested he got J/T because he was a famous football player. Being black was probably less a factor than his high profile.

Vick got jail time because he was running a dog fighting ring. Had he not done that he would still be a famous football player. A black one at that.

Lots of people run dog rings and don't get federal jail time for doing so. Most do not even get caught unless they are also selling dope.

See post 9 for link.

I don't think Vick got federal time for dog fighting. He got federal time for interstate criminal activity.

I may be wrong, but animal fighting is a local issue.

Uh huh.

And yet "chickens coming home to roost" implies that the action is an inevitable result of one's actions and therefore is one getting their "just desserts".

"Official story"? Oh, you mean what actually happened, when a bunch of terrorists murdered innocent Americans by crashing planes into bulidings.

No. I was referring to the BS GWB line that it happened because "they hate our freedoms."

Let me ask you. Do you think we were attacked because they hate our freedoms or because they hate us meddling in their part of the world?

Conservatives say they support free speech until they don't like it. Apparently, we are NOT free. We have to salute the flag and praise America. If you don't, you are shunned.

I wish conservatives really believed in freedom instead of just the freedom to wear flag pins.

What's happening to Kaepernick is an embarrassment to this country. Salute the flag or else.

And they do. Do you actually think ISIS or Al Qaeda thinks freedom of religion, for instance, should be a thing.

"Meddling"? Oh, you mean stopping naked aggression from a regime which gassed its own people repeatedly. Funny how it's always the worst regimes which shriek "meddling" when we crush their schemes.

Attempting to claim "oppression" while praising Fidel Castro is moronic. It's like denouncing genocide while supporting Adolf Hitler. Nobody is under any obligation to pretend what Kaepernick tried to claim was true or intelligent..... Because that's simply not the case

Uh, what the hell are you talking about? 911 had nothing to do with Iraq.

Meddling as in propping up a corrupt monarchy in Saudi Arabia. You do know that Osama Bin Laden was a Saudi National. Right?

And yet, Saddam deliberately radicalized his own people; for example, Mukhabaret agents make up a number of key roles in the ISIS hierarchy. He did everything in his power to make the world think he was involved.

You do realize that despite the constant shrieking about Saudi Arabia, they are far better than Iran or any of the other middle eastern regimes so beloved by anti Americans.

Did you really just suggest that that scumbag vick only got jail time because he was black? /facepalm

Of all your ignorant posts, this has to be close to the most idiotic.

WOW, that is really saying a lot.

How do you know this?

Have you studied other cases where the head guy was let off?
