Uh, oh. This is going to be hard to dodge.

WASHINGTON — Before arranging a meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer he believed would offer him compromising information about Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Jr. was informed in an email that the material was part of a Russian government effort to aid his father’s candidacy, according to three people with knowledge of the email.

That is treason. I knew it too, from day 1.

BTW, are these people stupid or what? An email? lol...yeah, that isn't going to get out. :doh

I know, I saw the story too. But for the love of all is holy, please stop tossing the T-word around. Treason requires reams of documented evidence, a high legal standard, and is incredibly rare. Only twelve people have been convicted of treason in USA history, that last of which was in 1952.

Every time someone squeals "treason" about the Trump/Russia thing, it diminishes the seriousness of what may eventually be a concerted collusion with a foreign government to interfere with American sovereignty.

Even Bradley/Chelsea Manning wasn't convicted of treason, although in my lifetime he/she is the only person I honestly believed was guilty of it.

Not treason. Treason, you have to aide an enemy, during a time of war, don't you?

It is however becoming an embarassing cover-up, and I knew those clowns weren't smart enough to run a broom over all their little messes.

Honestly, it's a high legal standard with enough legalese gobbledegook to choke a Supreme Court justice, but I think so. Thing is, we were technically at war when Manning (and Snowden too, for that matter), took a massive dump on our nation's national security, so the "war" standard is no doubt considerably higher.

Ok. Thanks. Although, I have to confess, I am hard pressed to find another word that fits with helping a foreign government turn an election through spying, stealing and/or breaking into computer systems.

I see treason as aiding and abetting in overthrowing the government. Well, didn't they sort of do that by stealing the election with the help of a foreign government?

"Collusion with a foreign government to interfere with American sovereignty" is a pretty bad thing, from which literally dozens of individual counts could emerge, from endangering the national security to perjury, classified material violations, etc. If the upper leadership of the Trump campaign and/or administration has actively colluded with Russia on a quid-pro-quo basis, and there is sufficient evidence to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, arrests will be made and people may face prison time.

Personally, I just want the fire under Trump to be hot enough that he finally resigns to save his family, who enjoy no presidential immunity. Not that it matters. When the lawyers say that the jig is up and there is enough evidence for a conviction, Trump will simply issue mass pardons and pretend it never happened.

It's not treason- that's pretty specific, and probably only applies in times of war.

But it's a big development.

The leaks are coming from Trump people, too- they know this is going public eventually, and are trying to spin it in the best light.

The obvious undertone is that the Russian lawyer was trying to trade election help for getting rid of the Magnitsky Act. Pretending it was about 'adoption' is like saying the travel ban is about protecting refugees from long plane flights.

And if trump himself knew about his son's meeting?

wheres the proof? ohh 3 unnamed people say so

3 unnamed people say Obamas bc is fake...guess by your standards what they say is true

That is a perfect summary of our current state of affairs.

Probably not treason, but it is collusion!

And if trump himself knew about his son's meeting?

Trump says he didn't... at the moment. Personally I find it difficult to believe that neither his campaign manager, his senior campaign advisor, and his son wouldn't have bothered mentioning such a thing.

If Mueller is thorough enough, he will find an aide or other staff member who was in the room during a briefing, or other corroboration that Trump knew. If no corroboration exists, then the presumption is that he didn't know.

The current news is far short of treason.

And after only evaluating the known public facts as of this moment, it's still short of collusion.

But if DJT did receive an email claiming the Russian govt had damaging material to share with the Trump campaign, and he went to the meeting with that expectation, even if it was unfulfilled, DJT may indeed be guilty of conspiring (with an enemy state).

Dayem right, he lawyered-up. He already spoke far too much!

(with an enemy state)

Really?

Obama ......“The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because you know, the Cold War has been over for 20 years.”

So he lied????

I can't speak for Obama, but only to the relationship with Russia.

And they attacked our democratic process.

I give you the American intelligence agencies' reports.

If you chose to ignore them, that's your prerogative. You can side with Putin & Trump, if you'd like.

Donald trump trusts his family above everyone else, is it unlikely he did not know about this meeting with his son.

Well, back on topic, it looks like DJT has indeed lawyered-up.

His lawyer released a very short "plausible denial" type statement.

So this means he is guilty?

Yeah, I agree.

Up until now, I believed all this Russia stuff essentially involved Trump covering-up for some fast and loose playing with regulations and deals, but likely not leading to actual collusion - especially to Trump himself.

Now this is starting to look like it's really getting to a "What did the President know, and when did he know it"? Bakerian moment.
