U.S., Russia broker cease-fire in Syria: Report

Of anything he does, he will say that it was exactly, what they had agreed.
Ah, kk.

In that aspect, him and Trump will be bedfellows!

U.S. and Russia struck a deal for a cease-fire in southwest Syria, according to reports, marking a major breakthrough in the six-year civil war as President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held their first face-to-face meeting.

U.S., Russia broker cease-fire in Syria: Report - Washington Times

Trump has just accomplished more in a few hours of conversation with Putin in terms of reducing the horrors of war and stopping (the excuses for) more “refugees” from coming to Europe than Obama accomplished during his entire tenure as POTUS.

This shows what dealing from a position of strength and healthy self-interest can do, vs. bowing and scraping, and drawing worse-than-useless red lines in the sand.

Yeah, WINNING!

1. I hope this is a decent deal and not one that throws more Syrians under the bus. But seeing that Syria and Russia are allies, I do not see that happening.

2. Even if we suppose that this is a very good deal, this would be, what, one of the very few actually decent things that Trump will have done abroad? The fact that you're having to celebrate a deal that, frankly, was pretty much par for the course for past presidents says a lot about the current one.

Care to place odds on Putin faithfully exercising his obligations?

well he was honest about the hacking of our nation's election:
U.S. President Donald Trump pressed Vladimir Putin at their first meeting on Friday about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said.

The Russian president has denied any meddling in the U.S. democratic process last year and Moscow has asked for proof that it took place.

The leftists are beside themselves, which means the meeting went well. Even if nothing became of the meeting, at least they are talking. And this is good for our country, bad for the left, but good for the country.

Smoke and mirrors signifying nothing.

The cease fire can't hold as long as Assad is in power.

Before we get too excited, this is a cease-fire in part of SW Syria. Considering that the US and Russia aren't officially combatants in the fight, I'm not sure it means anything.

Many. Just look at the OP.

Edit: Alright, saw similar responses after I posted.

Ok. So I just re-read the OP. Where does it suggest trust by the right in Putin? The Trump Administration is attempting to put some kind of treaty, or understanding, in place regarding Syria.

If you're going to enter into an agreement, wouldn't some degree of trust be required? That doesn't suggest blanket trust, because hey, it's our good buddy Putin. That's BS.

It seems from the push back I've received, people on the left would rather the US never enter into any kind of agreements or treaties, given their unique application of "trust".

Not to beat on this post - but apparently Trump trusts Putin - even above and beyond the American intelligence community (if this report is to be believed):

The Independent: Trump accepts Putin's claims that Russia did not meddle in US election, says Russian foreign minister

Perhaps Trump finally found his alternative-intelligence source?

One newspaper doesn't not make it true, especially when it is quoting the Russian Foreign Minister stating what happened.

Trump Pressed Putin on Election Hacking During G-20 Meeting, Tillerson Says - NBC News

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters that Trump took Putin at his word.

A Trump administration official pushed back on that assertion, telling NBC News Lavrov's description was "not accurate."

I'm curious why you're trusting Putin, or his crony, on this? I thought you were taking issue against those who trust Putin and his regime.

You're making crap up there were cease fires under Obama too. Given Russia's part of the ceasefire nobody expects it to last long just like previous cease-fires. I will

It will be interesting to see how long it takes the US to violate the terms of the agreement. Last time it took about a month.

Russia IS officially a combatant. Putin went to UN in late 2015 and announced that Russia was standing by its ally Syria. Syria invited Russian forces into the country.

The US is not officially a combatant. It is a covert combatant, helping the Israeli and ISIS efforts to destabilize and overthrow the Assad regime.

Get back to me when you want to engage on an adult level.

it might be interesting to see Trump engage on an adult level but then his supporters prolly wouldn't like that ..........

LOL

Well, it's certainly been proven that some of his detractors don't know what "adult level conversation" looks like.

you are trying to pretend that trump supporters know what the Declaration of Independence is, we know they do not.

Katzgarisms are an interesting anomaly. They just fly in from outer space, usually unrelated to anything being discussed.

Any chance of you including yourself among those with disingenuous proclivity and a highly partisan nature, thus making honest adult debate highly improbable?

Some people would rather not acknowledge those facts. They prefer the bliss of selective ignorance, buy the propaganda.
