Hawking really needs to stop crying doom on topics he isn't an expert on. It really hurts his credibility.

He sadly has become so.
The tragedy is that the proponents of CAGW will say this is proof of the validity of the notion instead of bemoaning the more obvious notion that Hawking's mind is failing.
This is a sad day for science. Not much different than any pre-eminent leader in a field showing that he just hasn't got it anymore.
Whether it's an actor of note forgetting his lines, an athlete failing in the clutch that he used to dominate or a Scientist like Hawking doing something like this.
If true, this is sad.

I know. Mother nature is going to do what mother nature wants to do regardless of what mankind wants her to do. If she wants another ice age, that will happen. If she wants a hotter earth, that will happen. Mankind isn't in charge here, she is. The earth has been much hotter in the past and has been much colder to include an ice covered planet.
We should be preserving our green places. If those folks are so worried about CO2, stop cutting down the rain forests, stop replacing forests with asphalt and shopping malls, trees, vegetation consumes CO2.

Could be, as in hind sight. But as having lived through it, the coming ice age was thought to be real. I don't remember anyone trying to debunk it back then. It was pretty much accepted as scientific fact.
