WhHy I think GOP economic policies in the past have failed

That's not confined to humans.

Deer battle over territory. Alpha bucks try to amass harems of hinds, despite persistent challenges from betas.

Even redwinged blackbirds are territorial, perhaps to preserve for themselves the choicest area to nest and cull grub for the brood.
Nesting in a desolate area would mean much more work for the parents trying to attend to hungry nestlings.

But that's just democracy. Democracies often pass laws that I personally don't like. If it doesn't represent me or a few of my neighbors, it seems the argument is we should have the freedom to just break away at any time and form our own government.

Except that's not how a representative democracy works. You vote, the majority wins, you live with the results. Welcome to reality.

The Founders called democracy "mob rule". It's why they Founded a Constitutional republic instead.
