The record of a champion.

The lies catalogued by the Times are post inauguration lies but the poor saps on Medicaid who helped elect him are face to face with his big lie from the campaign, one he repeated countless times. You remember, providing "better and cheaper health care for everyone". He made the lie seem credible by employing a second lie - that he believed the wealthy should pay more taxes which was music to the ears, as he knew it would be, to his economically strapped admirers. He said that one over and over again, too. So now we have a proposed bill he praises that guts future Medicaid by lowering taxes on the wealthy. Nice, as he would say.

Not quite like this. Nixon was the last one who was doing it this frequently and flagrantly. The only difference was that Nixon was far smarter and more tactful. Trump is like the 5-year-old with chocolate smeared all around his mouth telling you he didn't eat all the chocolate chip cookies.

So what? Show me a candidate who doesn't lie or exaggerate, tells false truths and takes things out of context. That promises whatever crowd they are speaking in front what that crowd wants to hear even if the next day the candidate promises the another crowd who wants the exact opposite, promises them the exact opposite. I never really listen to anything said on the campaign trail, perhaps lies is too harsh a word, but it all boils down to the chicken in every pot routine.

We're hung up on when the other candidates does these things, we try to hang him. But when our candidate does the exact same things, we ignore it or go on to defend them to the max. Only making a scene when it is the other candidate. Let's face it, we had the two worst candidate in the history of presidential elections last year. Both viewed negatively by around 60% plus or minus of Americans. The sad part in our two party system one of them had to win. Neither belonged within a million miles of the White House. Telling lies and calling people names should be expected. After all, they're politicians.

Which is like suggesting that all people who have sex are the same because they have sex and not distinguishing between a woman who has only slept with her husband and a twenty year veteran street walker who has worn out eight different mattresses and five sets of knee pads.
 
Trump, clearly an Ego-Driven Publicity-WhoreDog and Tycoon without prior political pedigree, aspired to become POTUS. He assembled Team Trump, a flexible organization with many interchangeable parts. Somehow he took down 16 GOP opponents to win the GOP nomination. Then moved on to the next phase to face the Clinton Machine. With less money and considerably higher energy than Clinton, his team put together a winning coalition. Team Trump's victory relied on tried and true simple political axioms... the Karl Marx theory of "Religion is the opium of the Masses" and the popular notion of "Ignorance is the opiate of the Masses". Trump also used his "Cult of Personality" and simplistic soundbites to electrify a growing base of rabid fans. Against prohibitive odds, without underlying dedication to the betterment of Americans or the World, he became POTUS! Now if that does not confirm for you Trump's incredible thirst and ability to obtain power, and alarm you to at least take notice of the political arena, I can respect our differences. For those of you who might understand my sentiment, let us forthright pursue a course of action that puts the reins of power back in the hands of someone more caring about the masses. Just saying.....
 
Yesterday early evening, on my way to a meeting, I stopped at a Walmart to pick up coffee creamer and snacks. On my way out, I saw a pencil thin semi-tall middle-aged man proudly wearing a "Trump Has Balls" tee shirt. As I passed him, I resisted an urge to comment.

Would wearing a provocative flame-bait garment, putting something on my vehicle or in my yard, or standing on a soapbox barking my views to strangers advance my interests? Probably not.

What works to change sentiment? Maybe just staying true to myself, not taking politics overly serious, seeking my serenity every day, pursuing grace, honesty, humor and Love! In my view, no one escapes their Karma.

the left has proven to only be tolerant for that which they agree with.
If you don't agree with them then they are not so tolerant.

After that they attempt to ad hominems against people in order to project some kind of
Image of a faulty moral high ground. This is where they start calling people bigots and racist etc ...

What you just did was the exact message of hate that people like me oppose.

I.e. The left really needs to learn the definition of words. It would Haley them a great deal.

I thought Trump wasn't a politician? He is far worse and no politician has come close to the lies Trump has told to get votes. Saying that he is going to help the middle class and then filling his cabinet with billionaires who hate the middle class is beyond anything I have ever seen. His true feelings are that of an oligarch and he has let corporate lobbyists make policies that make them richer at the expense of the rest of us. His supporters have given new meaning the phrase "biting off your nose to spite your face" as they applaud Trump "sticking it to libruls" while he robs them blind. They deserve to be robbed but the majority of us do not.

What i have never seen is a President that equates wealth with virtue so unequivocally. Obama had 1 Billionaire in his cabinet BTW.

To start with, let's be clear that we aren't talking about actual poor people. No one's suggesting that the President ought to pluck someone working for minimum wage at a fast-food restaurant to be the next chair of the Council of Economic Advisers. When Trump says "poor," what he really means is "not rich."
And that's what has happened in his administration. Trump promised to take power from the "elite" and give it back to the people, but what he was really after was removing the influence of expertise and consolidating all power in the hands of the wealthy. It isn't just the billionaires at the top; in one department after another, he has made his intention clear to sweep away civil servants and experienced experts, and turn things over to lobbyists and the corporations looking to government to help them make even more money.

The difference is that only Trump argues that these people will do a good job precisely because they're rich, that their wealth is itself a qualification.
There's nothing unusual for a Republican politician in these moves, because the party's entire approach to domestic policy is predicated on the idea that there's a causal link between the amount of money you have and your moral worth as a human being. Wealth, to most Republicans, appears as a sign of virtue.
Just look at what Republicans in control of the government are doing right now on health care. Their attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act is essentially a giant tax cut for the wealthy, financed by taking insurance away from millions of poor and middle-class people.
Once that's done, they'll be moving on to tax "reform" -- another giant tax cut for the wealthy, which they'll justify by arguing that we must unburden the noble "job creators" of the oppressive weight of taxation under which they currently suffer. When that's through, they'll be attacking other elements of the safety net, including food stamps.
That agenda didn't originate with Donald Trump -- it's what the Republican Party has been seeking for years.
When they're in charge -- however differently they may frame it for the base -- the wealthy will be hired, catered to, indulged and pampered, while the poor will be the target of vicious budget cuts and stern lectures about pulling on those bootstraps. It doesn't come from any notion about what makes for effective policies -- it's about values.
